If this was a one-off shocker, I'd wait until tomorrow to calm down, and then post. But if our "efforts" against Melbourne, Carlton and Essendon weren't bad enough, this was, and it deserves all the rage it will no doubt get. Seriously, to think that we were "finals contenders" 3-4 weeks ago... Port Adelaide must now feel threatened for bottom spot. Utterly DISMAL performance, for the 4th week in a row.
Is that avatar you, Dizza?

It is. Was on Ch10, Round 1 last year.
Fair gobful your giving! Although it was warranted!

From memory it was an Eddie Betts free kick that wasn't there. Eddie Betts + Bad Umpiring = Me not happy!

If he told the players to deliberately slow down the play then it shows a major lack of understanding. Very disappointing IMHO. Very disappointing. I was hoping he would do well as a coach but his reputation preceded him and he hasnt lived up to it to this point. I've been disappointed with some of his comments re jackson and edwards amongst other things, maybe this job was just too hard for Damien Hardwick.

Thats what I am thinking.
Club is at fault as well.
Bombers put inexperienced coach in and ""prop" him up with Bomber Thompson.
Who has Dimma got

All but about 5 who post on this site are living in la la land.

Claw has made more sense in the last 2 years than everyone else put together including veterans like WP.

Talk of the rebuild is over, we are on the way up are the most funniest things over read since the tanned one was in charge.

How can you possibly expect to win with these 10 duds getting walk up starts in our 22.

No one with half a brain can honestly expect without a shadow of a doubt that we would beat GC today. I know i didnt!!

I slapped a nice amount on GC in the 3rd at 3/1. Baby seat paid for.

Dimma has had a poor month but he needs to stay for 3 years at the least to see it through. We need to see if he can coach. the issue is if he cant we would possible let go a golden opportunity to get Malthouse.

Can he coach time will tell but we have gone backwards in 12 months?
My biggest concerns are our tackle count is down so players are not listening to him, he still recruits players who cant kick and Conca "the hidden gem" is too short IMO to be the player we all hope he will be. At best he will be a back pocket player. Waste of a pick said it from day one.

IMO the biggest mistake he made is to come to a club like RFC with no experience in his coaching team. Not all clubs need experience but RFC does.

The sooner some of you get it in your head that we wont be making finals for at least 2-3 years the better you will feel.

I feel good now. Free baby seat means more than expecting our pathetic team would win.

well done on the baby seat Dan.

This thread is hilarious. So many people so irate at the loss as if we were ever a chance to win.
I haven't expected to win in over 10 years. My weekends are so much better with that mindset. ( although I still HATE losing to Carlscum).

Our defence did not have the confidence when the pressure mounted to make the required risks to move the ball on quickly. This is a combination of incompetence and inexperience. This will improve over time but how do you instill confidence in the younger players in the backline while removing the poor/average defenders. Even when Grimes, Astbury and/or Moore returns it will take 'time' for them to get used to playing together and gain that confidence. At the moment though, our fear of failure is becoming our biggest reason for failure of all.

Our midfield is too young, too reliant on too few, too weak. Cotchin can not do it alone and at the moment he is. Dusty isn't a consistent performer at 19, Foley too small to fight out a season at the bottom of packs and Jackson an athlete not a footballer. Conca will make it as a dangerous outside player initially, inside player later. His size will make little difference - no more than it does/did for Harvey, Mitchell, Cousins, etc. We can't wite off anyone after one season. Helbig will join the group but it all comes down to time, Time, TIME!!! God I hate waiting withour garentees  :banghead

I have been so disappointed over the last 3 weeks but the person I'm most angry at is the Board - 2 games we would have won sold. The moneys great for the club, but has &^%$#% our momentum and any chance we had to finally make finals this year.  :nopity

I am the general manager of a sporting organisation.

If my organisation produced an unacceptable performance then I would demand someone be held accountable for it.

That does't mean sack the coach but it does mean analysis of every aspect of the organisation and hard questions asked of everyone in it.

If you allow poor performances to become acceptable then they become the norm.

Great post Stripes agree wholeheartedly. I highlighted the part about fear of failure because it is a disease that has haunted us during the frawley/wallace era and quite frankly the foul stench of it has hit our club once again. Under TBR's formula, if anyone should be held accountable for this it is the coaching department.

People on OER are highlighting 10-12 players from our best 22 who should automatically be delisted and it is hard to argue against them. They have been poor. But guess what folks, you can't cut more than half of the firsts in one season. We are stuck with them. They just have to improve. It's our only hope. Just imagine, if collectively the groups confidence improved, 6-8 of these marked men could rescue their careers. Can Hardwick do it? (I am strongly tending towards no on that question) The coaching team are massively under scrutiny right now imo.

Really? It hope it's not the Melbourne Tigers, who look like they are trying out a Washington Generals type line up this season.

There was a thread about it not to long ago but maybe we need to look at getting an out of contract assistant coach over the off-season.

Generally agree with all of this, however, Jackson isnt an athlete either. The guy is as slow as a wet week and wouldn't win a sack jumping contest at a paraplegic fete.

The guy, whos supposedly our primary tagger, had 2 tackles yesterday in 120 minutes of football. TWO! Couldn't tag a loaf of bread. Delist immediatley.

Dean Laidley is the one people were asking to bring in to help Hardwick.

There in lies the problem. We're just so used to losing that we just accept dismal performances week in, week out because we've come to expect it. It's a losing culture that needs to change!

problem is dizza we've had promise after promise with no result. It's a virus that has been there since 1984.
I thought it might be frawley our last coach to bring us finals. But it wasn't to be. I thought it might be Wallace but we found him out 6 months in he was full of it. We now have Hardwick and the ONLY thing I remember him saying when he arrived was "IF YOU CANT WIN YOUR OWN BALL YOU CANT PLAY IN THIS JUMPER!".
I dunno but his selection criteria has changed somewhat.

It's a culture that needs a blowtorch to it. Burned up and eradicated. I don't see anyone doing this.
