I think people are saying no one could be worse than Gus at centre-bounces and stoppages so Maric has to be an automatic upgrade lol.

So Maric's nickname will evolve to Pearl Jam.

And then to 'Necklace'.

God you lot are unreal, you have gone from saying that he is an ordinary player that we should not get to exceited about and couldn't care less if he comes or doesn't.

To carrying on like he will be the saviour...please....lets wait for him to play a game. stuff me, every player looks great in highlight reels....

Yeah yeah yeah, we have picked up a ruckman..of sorts, dont flog yourselves off just yet.. :gotigers :lol :thumbsup

Leaving aside the usual cheerleading I think they've done a pretty good job so far.
Well out from Trade Week we said we were looking for a ruckman and a big backman, remembering that Hardwick wanted a "big fish" comparable to Houli and Grigg.

It depends of course on how players perform but i have a reasonable confidence based on Hartley's work in 2010 that he's got the ruckman for what he thinks he's worth.
He seems to have picked his mark, made a fair approach to the manager a long way out and not overpaid in trade.
I would not be surprised if we were to get someone like Goldsack in trade or PSD (like 2010). If so, then they've been spot on with their word.

The problem of course is we don't seem to have had the same ability to trade OUT some players but again the Tambling trade was a gem so I'll wait till the end of Trade Week.
If we can't trade away players that are not good enough it really is our own fault for recruiting them in the first place.

...happy with this deal...haven't given up too much in what is recognised as a weak-ish draft...Drago fits the right age for our group & should hopefully be hittin the time when the big guys start to develop (ala Jamaar etc - not saying he'll get as good but fingers crossed we might have our own big Ruski & not a big Lemon Ruski....)

Also agree that BH has done a good job in his time with us...we seem to be getting players that are improving our list and our depth without paying overs and slowly but surely weeding out the rabble that won't take us forward - baring in mind this will take a couple of seasons worth of trades/delists etc...

all-in-all, trade week is done & we've still got PSD/ND to go...so far so good....

and welcome to the Tigz Anna (of Ivan-avich fame...just my two bob on potential nicknames :) )

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Drago will break you all!!  :clapping

After Round 1 everyone will be praising the RFC on picking this bloke up, will be a massive pick up because we were lacking a ruckman so bad, our midfield just doubled in efficiency  :clapping

If and when we start making finals consistently, you watch the players lining up wanting to come to us, and with a bit of luck most of the will be high round Gold Coast and GWS players wanting to return home ;) ;)

More truth and likelihood of that happening than most other predictions and forecasts in this thread.

Maric assumed the No. 1 ruck mantle with the Crows during 2009 and continued to impress with his development in the 2010 season, playing 21 games and being ranked seventh out of all the ruckmen in the competition for hit-outs to advantage, and also fourth at Adelaide for contested marks. He was a member of Adelaide’s leadership group, and proved his worth as a forward option. This year, however, the arrival of ruckman Sam Jacobs from Carlton, and the impact of the new interchange rules, resulted in Maric spending most of the season at SANFL level.

“We were keen to bolster our ruck stocks with a more experienced big man and believe Ivan really suits our needs,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron.

“He’s been in the system for a few years now and has the attributes we’re looking for in a ruckman. “He is highly competitive, aggressive, has a strong work ethic, and the flexibility to go forward and be a marking target.

“We think Ivan will really grasp this opportunity with us and become a valuable member of our playing group.”

“We would like to acknowledge the cooperation and professionalism of the Adelaide and St Kilda football clubs, who have ensured the trade was completed.”

Not quite the way Tim Watson described it on SEN apparently.  From tiger-talk:

"Tim Watson on SEN was suggesting that Richmond and Adelaide were at
each others throats about this trade - with Adelaide suggesting
Richmond were trying to get him for unders, then discussing letting
him walk into the PSD. Suggested Adelaide have been very, very
unhappy with Richmonds aggressive trading nature."

Anyone else hear Watson's comments?

Thats the nature of the business Tim. If clubs can't handle it then sign up your players to contracts.

So the dibber dobbers had another sook did they Tim? How can pick 37 be unders when the Crows picked up Jacobs for a similar pick last year who they rate higher than Maric  ::).

We offered pick 37 on Monday and it was Adelaide ridiculously stating they wanted a first rounder that held up the trade being done for 5 days. If another club thinks it can con us at the trade table then we had every right to play the PSD card to gain some leverage.
