Fri 14 Oct, 2011Maric assumed the No. 1 ruck mantle with the Crows during 2009 and continued to impress with his development in the 2010 season, playing 21 games and being ranked seventh out of all the ruckmen in the competition for hit-outs to advantage, and also fourth at Adelaide for contested marks. He was a member of Adelaide’s leadership group, and proved his worth as a forward option. This year, however, the arrival of ruckman Sam Jacobs from Carlton, and the impact of the new interchange rules, resulted in Maric spending most of the season at SANFL level.
“We were keen to bolster our ruck stocks with a more experienced big man and believe Ivan really suits our needs,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron.
“He’s been in the system for a few years now and has the attributes we’re looking for in a ruckman. “He is highly competitive, aggressive, has a strong work ethic, and the flexibility to go forward and be a marking target.
“We think Ivan will really grasp this opportunity with us and become a valuable member of our playing group.”
“We would like to acknowledge the cooperation and professionalism of the Adelaide and St Kilda football clubs, who have ensured the trade was completed.”
