Maric had a good game but let's put it in perspective here.....the opposition was poo.

He's done a very good job since coming over.  A massive difference when a ruckman is competative.   The sooner we get rid of the big girl Graham and the big pear browne the better we can concetrate on recruiting some real ruck talent.

RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick has labelled iconic ruckman Ivan Maric a "star", after a career-best 46 hit-outs from the former Crow led the Tigers to a 37-point victory at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.

Maric has become a cult figure since joining the Tigers at the end of 2011, largely due to his flowing mullet. But hairstyle aside, Maric was brilliant in terrible conditions, managing five clearances, three inside 50's and 20 disposals to go with his tremendous effort in the ruck.

"He's been a star," Hardwick said.

"He's been a high-calibre person, what he's delivering on the field is high calibre also.

"He's been a very good player for us."

Hardwick said the 200cm giant was settling nicely into life as a Tiger, but he isn't a fan of Maric's mullet.

"He's a guy who's starting to understand our system, what's required of him, he gets the ball from A to B and he's been a real plus for us this year," he said.

"He's still got some areas of his game that he can work on, mainly his hair."

Maric has been great for us, not just today but in every game. Gives us a chance at every contest

He isn't Dean Cox or Aaron Sandilands but he puts everything into his ruckwork and his around the ground work and he has provided us with an opportunity for our mids to get first use.

We have been one of the top sides in centre clearances so far this year, no thanks to having a ruckman who competes all the time not just part of the time.

Yes nice hands. Only an average ruckman compared to others however. Tell you what, if the sub rule got stuffed off then we'd be going alright with Maric and Beef.

Maric was very good yesterday. His defensive work was outstanding. In a game where you needed the ruck to be dominant he did that. Maric was one of the few who had a good third quarter.
