Danny Daly talking about Maric:

* It’s obviously no secret that we missed Ivvy while he was out. He’s just starting to find some form and fitness, so hopefully he can continue that this week. His ability to get around the ground, lose his opponent ruckman and take marks is crucial for us. Also, he can go forward when Ty comes into the ruck. We’ve got great faith in his ability to take marks, especially the long, down-the-line ones. We speak about contested football through the midfield and this is where it’s at.  The ability to mark the footy means that the ball’s not hitting the deck. He runs about 13km a game so it’s not only his ability to get around the ground and take marks. Defensively, he works just as hard as most of our midfielders.

Any chance we could work on a GOOD replacement then rather than the spuds like Hampson, Big O, Xman, Vickers, Griffiths and Unco's we have been trotting out

Got thrashed today by Longer. Worst game he has played for the tigers.

Ivan Maric's standing in Richmond's side cannot be underestimated.

Maric's absence for the first 10 rounds of the season as he recovered from ankle surgery left a gaping hole in Richmond's lineup.

Now with six games under his belt, Maric is starting to come into his own.

His battle with Lions ruckman Stefan Martin was intriguing and Maric said he relished the challenge.

"I love getting into that zone where I'm absolutely hurting and my mind wants me to stop and I just keep going.

"I believe that if can play in that zone for longer than my opponent I can eventually wear him down, but it was a good duel with Stef today."

The mentality of doing "the little things" had deserted the Tigers in the early stages of this season, Maric said.

But the Tigers ruckman saw signs in the win over the Lions that made him think things were starting to turn.

"I believe it happens at training. You have to do it at training. You've got to train your mind because there's times in the game where you're going to hurt," he said.

"Your legs are burning and you've got to say, 'Shut up legs' and just keep running, find and then stop your opponent."

Magical Maric: The power behind Richmond's resurgence

TALISMANIC ruckman Ivan Maric has been the driving force behind Richmond's resurgence, teammate Ricky Petterd says.

Maric returned from pre-season ankle surgery when Richmond started sinking to its lowest ebb in an embarrassing 50-point loss to Essendon in the 'Dreamtime at the 'G' encounter in round 11.

The Tigers tumbled to four-straight losses and a 3-10 record, but prospects have improved dramatically at Punt Rd since.

So much so that Richmond is suddenly an outside finals chance after winning five-straight matches.

While Maric's comeback has been important on gameday, he's also demanded more from his teammates on the training track.

"I think big 'Ivey' runs it pretty well. He expects us to be the best and that's what we strive to be," Petterd told AFL.com.au.

Just a natural leader, show it on and off the field  :clapping

And it doesn't effect his game either, just keeps doing what he always done

I am just incredulous at these articles.

How many people have to come out and say the standards weren't high enough before the penny drops.

The stuffing ruckman doesn't drive standards, the coaching staff do.
