AFL_PKeane Patrick Keane twttier

"Top 5 teams from 2011 - Cats, Pies, Hawks, Eagles, Blues - will each only play expansion teams Suns and Giants one time each."

"All clubs will travel to Perth at least once, contrary to some incorrect reports, and all Vic-based clubs travel at least five times."

I heard on SEN that The Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and North are 4 of the 5 teams to play GWS twice ::) ::)

Let's hope Keane is right as it would be a joke if the Pies avoid travelling to Perth.

It looks like the AFL are banking on Melbourne being the big improver next year and being a finalist. They are getting a cushy run.

As for us Round 13 is probably the best time to have the bye. Allows for a shorter second half of the season when younger bodies will tire. It also looks like the Dreamtime game will be around round 8.

Why the **** do Melbourne and North play them twice.. That's absolute rubbish

We should be playing gws twice.. Just goes to show how much the afl hate us.. This draw will be farrked.

How the hell can we challenge for finals in 2012 when the afl is giving Melbourne and North a head start already?

I won't be surprised if this doesn't happen given we sold our home game to Cairns but we still may get to play the Suns twice. You would hope we'll be better prepared to play them in Qld next year. If Melb and North are playing GWS twice then they can only play the Suns once.

At the end of the day if we need a soft draw to make the finals then we won't last past the first week in the finals anyway. We'd just do an Essendon and get flogged as an undeserving finalist.

Yes but why should those two teams deserve to play gws twice?

We have the bye in Round 13...

Round 1
GWS vs Sydney
Richmond vs Carlton
Collingwood vs Hawthorn
Melbourne vs Brisbane
Gold Coast vs Adelaide
North vs Essendon
Fremantle vs Geelong
Bulldogs vs West Coast
Port vs St Kilda

If channel seven only shows 4 games a round does that mean they wont be showing the Sydney v GWS game?
Or can they show 4 games a weekend so they can put it on FTA then put another 4 games on the next weekend when the rest of the comp starts.

Even with an easy draw both clubs will find a way to stuff it up.
Abit like Demons this year one could argue at the start of this season they should make finals. Easy draw keep improving but yet they stuffed up and went backwards and lost Scully.

Gurantee you that the AFL will want that first GWS game shown live around the country of FTA.

Not sure how it's going to work to be honest as the TV rights says Ch7 only have 4 games a round

I wouldn't be surprised if we miss out on FTA coverage for our round 1 game.

I suppose it depends on if Ch7 will give up another timeslot (Sunday arvo perhaps) to show the our game

they have rights for Friday nights, sat arvo, sat night, sunday arvo each round so how it's going to work for round 1 will be revealed on Friday morning at 9.30am  ;D

Saturday arvo seems to be the first one sacrificed in the past.

Saturday arvo seems to be the first one sacrificed in the past.

If the GWS game is on Friday night Ch7 will want to do that but that means they will need to give up either the Sat or Sun Arvo games to accomodate - most probably Sat arvo

They will then do the following Friday night (Pies/Hawks)

So that's 2 out of their 4

they will definitely want Sat night's game to be shown

This would leave the Sunday arvo game to be given up to do our game...

as I said wouldn't be at all surprsied if we ar enot on FTA round 1

The joys of the new rights agreement

My mistake. Forgot about a 2nd Friday night game (one each week) Was thinking GWS-Syd would be instead of having one the second week not as well as.

No mention of us as far as playing in Tassie:

Round 5 Hawthorn vs Sydney @Aurora

Round 10 on Saturday, June 2 Hawthorn vs North Melbourne @ Aurora

... with Sydney scheduled for a Launceston round-five game next year and the Giants a strong chance to come to Hobart, it is most likely the Hawks' remaining two Tasmanian games will come from Adelaide, Port Adelaide and Fremantle.

Maybe the AFL wants clubs that have a man and his dog crowds that will make GWS feel at home  ;D.

Maybe we could be playing in hobart against kangaroos. I thought Kangaroo's play 2 games in hobart.
