The Bombers were working feverishly to try to source the high-end draft pick that is required to poach the midfield hard-nut.

Caddy's father has a heart condition, prompting the teen to ask Gold Coast for a move back home, preferably to Essendon.

The Herald Sun revealed Essendon offered pick 19, potentially another selection, plus a player.

But the Suns knocked back the proposal and had not moved from their stance last night.

It is understood the club was likely to deal only if it received top compensation.

Essendon will today attempt to convince Gold Coast to trade teenager Josh Caddy to the Bombers for an assortment of players and possibly a draft pick. Caddy played two games for the Suns in their first season.

The Bombers are understood to have offered up several options including defender Cale Hooker and injury-prone forward Scott Gumbleton.

We now have the highest first round pick of any Melbourne-based club although I've heard the Dees are now interested in Caddy and they have better compo picks to offer from losing Scully. Gold Coast hold the aces with who to trade with if a number of Melbourne-based clubs start bidding.

Bloody hell. I wish Melbourne would bugger off. They're the fat kid that sticks their fingers in every bit of food at another kid's birthday party.

Emma Quayle saying Essendon are in mediation with GC over Caddy and that Melbourne has joined the fray.

No willing to pay this price GC want?
Concerns about his foot injury history?

I got the impression from Craig Cameron at the fan forum that we just weren't interested in chasing a big fish or doing a big trade this year.

Bombers' negotiators have broken up with GC according to SEN and Essendon's CEO has just arrived at Etihad. Looks like they are going hard for Caddy now.

Hudson on SEN mentioned us regarding Caddy. He wondered how we could find a player to go with pick 15 to satisfy the Suns compared to Essendon with their pick 19.

Yep Pick 19 + Gumby is just pick 19 unless the Suns want someone who'll spend his whole time in the medical room and sitting in the stands.

i would love GC to screw the Bombers over and side with the Demons. I mean given a choice i would love nothing better than to see the Bummers get bent over in this one

I just get the feeling GC will bow to the pressure and give in with one of these spuds.

In effect its Caddy for pick 19. Gumbleton is not an AFL player lets be serious

Demons with compo picks would hold the upper hand over bombers IMO.
