Mentally weak
Has been her whole career and will continue to be for the rest of it

Geez fair talent then to win the US open with such a weak mind!

Keep on gerkin.

Every dog has her day.
Agree though, fair talent. Just lacks fortitude.

That Canadian guy Hewitt is playing has got a massive serve. His first serve of the night he set the fastest for the tournament.

Hewitt's fought back to level it up at one set all. He's woken up to the Canadian's high bouncing second serve. Yep tiger101 the guy can whack a tennis ball.

Lleyton making me eat my pre-tournament words winning in four sets and making it through to the second week. Tonight was probably the best Hewitt has  served in a long while and his experience paid off over the young Canadian. Next up for Hewitt is Djokovic so both Aussies have the toughest 4th round matches.

Ditto

Though still think he should retire = NOW go out on a high Lleyton

I can't believe the dislike people have toward Hewitt
IMO he is a deadset champion

As an Australian I'm rapt he smashed that guy last night

No one gave him a chance no one and I reckon silently there were some hopIng he lost.

Great player and a great guy unlike that dokic who at any given time would ditch this country

Hmm, I didnt see any personal attacks on Hewett in this thread, just some honest appraisal of where he is at as a tennis player.

Hewitt has been a former world No.1, won a US Open and Wimbledon and been part of two Davis Cup winning teams. I don't think people are bagging Hewitt as a dud daniel. However he has been playing pro for about 12 years so he's not young anymore and his form and fitness prior to the Oz Open on top of all the injuries he's had in recent years meant it was only natural that people started to question if this Oz Open was Lleyton's last hurrah. It would be great if he could finish his career on a high.

daniel where did I mention that I disliked him?

Don't particularly like the style of tennis he plays but simply because I not a fan of tennis players who do not much more than counter punch from the baseline. It isn't great tennis to watch. Probably explains why I am not a fan of Nadal either; find him exceptionally boring to watch

Back to Hewitt, I agree he's been a champion and achieved some sensational things but IMHO he should call it quits while people still remember him as a champion rather than a often injured bloke struglling to keep up with the modern game and its champions. I'd rather seem him go out on top than getting bundled out at Grand Slams in the 1st round.

As for Dokic outside of her father being a tyrant and forcing her to "de-nounce" Australia I suggest you get a transcript or vision of a recent speech she gave at a Tennis Australia function (same function where Hewitt was honoured BTW) where she thanked TA for all the support they'd given her even at times when she didn't deserve it, aplogised for things she's done over the years and how she realises now she should never have turned her back on Aust. It was heartflet and refreshingly honest from a lady who had it bloody tough for along time because of her crazy father

Yep good tournament by Tomic though could of easily gone out in R1.
Gotta give credit to Federer for another insightful on court interview he always speaks well IMO.

Yep all class and modesty from Federer. Just way too good for Tomic and as WP said gave him a tennis lesson once he broke Tomic late in the first set.

uum where do i say i was talking about you? Its not always about you WP and dont worry there are many people who cant stand Hewitt in the general public. He is a champion player and a good bloke too. Good family man IMO

If that's what she said and its sincere then that's fine. More than likely she realized what she was about to turn her back on and woke up.
Serbia vrs Australia. hmmm thats a tough choice

Its good to see her in the fed cup team too but its just really gets at me when people say they dont want to play for Australia and want to go back home. I feel sorry for them the same way as i feel sorry for those who were born in Australia yet support another country.
