that comment show what an illiterate simpleton you are, i never said we were great, just not as bad as some want to make out.
our biggest problem in recent times has been not taking the opportunities we have created, not a lack of creating opportunities.
this lack of scorboard pressure keeps the opposition in the hunt rather than burying and demoralising them.
besides that our we performing pretty much as a you would expect from a middle of the road side.
Al we are performing like a bottom six side ATM. Melbourne's game plan was more methodical than ours and they could have won but their skills let them down. At times there were holes everywhere today but Demon players couldn't extract or exact disposals at crucial times. You had to be there to see it.
actually you could pick get an indication that melbourne let us off at times with poor disposal watching on the box, and that it was a scrappy game.
I just find it strange that the essendon lovers want to bemoan a win over a side that beat the bummers.
considering where we are at overall, the 7 changes, which is nearly a third of our side and missing two of our best inside midfielders, as well as the bullcrap that went down during the week, like davey i'm happy to take the win.
i do find our goal conversion rate extremely frustrating and concerning, though, as that will haunt us.
What frustrates me Al is the over-possessing of the ball in the middle of the ground. While this is going on the forwards are making 1,2 and three leads. If I was Jack I would be
In our first quarters we have been quick and direct but it all 'peters out' when the opposition side sets a 'loosey' or goes man-on-man. With Luke providing a new defensive pressure we should get it in there quick regardless. I blame coaches who are asking players to 'posses' the ball at all costs.
One of the effects of us inching towards goal is the collective movement of our midfield away from the centre of the ground. Hence when a point is kicked (and it has happened many times of late), they are not in a position to defend the quick rebound and surprise, an opposition rebound goal/point is scored.
BTW I take your point regarding the changes and their effect. I am not blaming the players it is a coaching issue.
