Which AFL team do you support and how did you come to barrack for them?
North Melbourne - my grandfather played for them so it is a family tradition.

This one amazes me ... Giles still in dispute with GWS and for the life of me I dont know why GWS have not agreed to terms.

Adelaide, Collingwood & Richmond are definitely on the trail.

GWS would be mad to let him go but stranger things have happened.

Angus Graham - Gossip is could well be looked at by Adelaide as a player to be used as back-up if they mist (sic) on Giles.

GREATER Western Sydney is no closer to re-signing its No.1 ruckman Jonathan Giles with talks on a new contract at a stalemate, Giants list manager Stephen Silvagni says.

As long as Adelaide don't get Giles it sounds like we are a chance to punt Gus. Imagine if we are the team that steals Giles away and Adelaide get Gus. So much win.

Hawthorn defender Tom Murphy is facing the distinct possibility of being squeezed out by the club's trade for Brian Lake. The free agent, 26, will have to wait until the end of the trade period before being told whether he is wanted by the Hawks.

Former Port Adelaide defender Stephen Gilham has fielded inquiries from Gold Coast.

Unrestricted free agent Clinton Young has attracted interest from Collingwood and the Brisbane Lions.

A deal landing Josh Caddy at Geelong is close after Gold Coast backed down on its original demand for two first-round picks for the talented midfielder. Both clubs were last night finalising a shuffling of later draft picks. The central piece of the deal is the Cats' first-round compensation selection.

Once the Caddy deal is done, the Cats will turn their attention to North Melbourne ruckman Hamish McIntosh, with a deal involving a second or third-round pick going from Geelong to North likely.

North Melbourne key forward Lachie Hansen has attracted interest as he remains locked in a contract standoff with the Roos.  Several clubs have inquired about Hansen, with Fremantle, Gold Coast and Greater Western Sydney believed to be among them.

Essendon confirmed yesterday they had received no offers for Scott Gumbleton. Defenders Cale Hooker and Tayte Pears have received little interest either.

St Kilda is moving closer to securing Gold Coast ruckman Tom Hickey, with the Suns accepting a deal will eventually be done.

Why are we not entertaining this trade for Giles??

Giles is a must IMO

The club who lands him will be very lucky

GWS are kidding themselves with a 1 year deal for him

While I agree Giles would be a good pick up

I think the issue is $$$ and Jonny seems to want lots of them  ;D

None of us know what $$ we are talking from what I've read they are offering 150k and others 300k

Giles is a very good ruckman and would put great pressure on Griffiths and Vickery to step up

Dump Graham and there's more room for Giles

Watch the GC game and then ask yourselves if we don't need Giles to replace Graham

BJ can I ask a question

How is Blake any better than Gus??

Mate these half hearted guys are no good

A back up ruck needs to play around the ground also and Gus and Blake are the same type of player

Agree, neither Blake or Gus should be on our list in any capacity.

Maric with Vickery and Giles would be a huge step in the right direction.

FWIW I heard we were interested in Giles, but don't know how serious it is.

I am fully on Daniel's side with this one, I think Giles would be worth every cent of $3-400k.  I also think many sides have been getting it wrong since the sub rule came in by only playing 1 specialist ruck and that we will see a (common sense) move back over the next few seasons as more sides follow the Eagles/Swans lead in having 2 specialist ruckmen who can compete around the ground, rather than 1 ruckman and a forward who can pinch-hit.  Giving the opposition the upper hand while your only ruckman rests for even 5 minutes per quarter can be crucial in today's footy and I think it's no secret that the Swans superiority in the midfield and onball area was a critical factor in their success this year.

Maric has shown as well, he is more than capable of going forward and taking strong contested marks and kicking goals. So if we get someone equally as capable as him, would be very dangerous.  :gotigers

GILES would be chasing anything from 300k-350k a year not sure it would be  worth paying that price for someone who would be just a back up doubt he could play CHF if vickery struggles.

Hope vickery is in that gym as we speak

Giles looked good playing forward for GWS.

The thing with Vickery is, if he can find that 2011 form, you wouldn't even play him in the ruck if we had Giles and Maric. Leave him up front with JR8 with the resting Maric /Giles as the 3rd tall. Would be a nightmare for opposition defenders to try and match up on Riewoldt, Vickery and Maric/Giles at ALL times during a game.

Yep, watched Giles live in quite a few games and he is very good up forward. Takes a great contested mark, can lead and is very solid in front of goals.
