Not that I'd be unhappy with Vlastuin, I just don't think he is outstanding in any one area, just seems to be decent/good at everything. Grundy, Macrae, Stringer and even Garner to mine just have that little bit more of an X factor about them, so I'd be rapt to end up with one of them. If Plowman slips down to 9, would be very very difficult to say no as well  :cheers

I'm not sure Garner is worth pick 9? The one similarity to to Fyfe he does have is dodgy shoulders. I not sure he's worth the risk.....

Garner has the potential to be an absolute jet. I got my hands on his VC vs WA game and it was very good. 20 disposals 3 goals. Would add some serious class to the forward half as well as push up through the midfield.

OE I think that list you have is pretty much spot on but will be O'Rourke AND Menzel for Dogs and no Stringer.
I'm basing Stringer to the Dogs at 6 on what Emma Quayle is saying. Where most of this mids will end up will depend on where and when Grundy goes. If Grundy goes early then yep Stringer could slip down the order.

Watching Garners video interview gives me the impression he thinks the Tigers will take him at 9......Just a knowing grin here and there and when he talks about Richmond he looks like the 'Cat that ate the cream'. ;)

i think the fact we have pick 9 is a bonus. we could have traded out of it.
some of us like stringer others like wines others macrae or garner or vlastuin. no matter what happens we should end up with a highly credentialled kid. the real bonus imo would be if grundy did slip. cant see how we can over look him with our ruck stocks if he is there at 9. yet again i cant see how gws can overlook him they are screaming out for a a high quality ruckman they want him to be ready and at his best in 3 or 4 yrs time when most of their kids get enough games behind them and they are coming into their own.
reckon port and us are the other two sides who just cant afford to overlook him if hes available at their pick.

gws could go
1/ whitfield high quality mid they have a heap of them already.
2/ grundy they are screaming out for a long term quality ruckman. this bloke is a genuine top 5 pick anyway.
3/ this is where it gets interesting you can always do with more quality mids but they also need more quality tall defenders and they do with big bodied types who are versatile.imo they can afford to ask themselves who has the most upside here and take a punt. would not be surprised to see stringer go here.
12/ sheesh the bastards have pick 12. we dont know who will go where theres every chance two or three high quality kpds will fall here. can see cluery here and plowman slipping to here. they have a need for tall defenders.
14/ geez what an option to have they can simply pick the one real good one who slips of any type. amazing to say menzel orourke, vlastuin, simpson wines macrae mayes anyone of them could ossibly slip to here.
they really are in a position to do what they please take what they need most, and take a risk. no matter what they do those picks enable them to pick the eyes out of it.
if they take grundy at two are they over paying i dont think so. if they take stringer at 3 are they over paying i dont think so. at 12 and 14 if say orouke slips do they over pay geez hes toutes a top 5 pick.
they have the luxury to do both take the best and address needs. seems to me needs are not far separted from the best available. some will say their needs are indeed best available.

From the horses mouth... Taylor Garner thinks he will go between pick 16-20. Not sure if he is being modest or genuine though.

Herald-Sun is saying GWS is looking at Plowman at pick 3 now with Wines to the Dees, O'Rourke and Menzel to the Dogs and Grundy to Port.

1. Whitfield ...... GWS
2. Toumpas ...... GWS
3. Plowman ...... GWS
4. Wines .......... Melb.
5. O'Rourke ....... WB
6. Menzel .......... WB
7. Grundy .......... Port

If that's all true and Jaksch ends up going to Brisbane at 8 then that'll leave all of Macrae, Vlastuin, Mayes, Garner and Stringer available for us to choose from at pick 9.

Gun ruckman in Tigers' sights

RICHMOND could find itself in the box seat to recruit Brodie Grundy, the best young ruckman in the country, at next week's NAB AFL Draft.

And even if Greater Western Sydney doesn't select the South Australian big man with one of its first three picks, it is also a chance to land him later in the draft.

Massive raps: read Grundy's assessment and see his highlights

Although touted as one of the Giants' first three selections for most of the year, the club seems likely to ignore Grundy and pick midfielders Lachie Whitfield and Jimmy Toumpas, and defender Lachie Plowman, with its opening picks.

South Australian Troy Menzel is also a chance to be picked at No.3, with some recruiters believing it's a toss of the coin whether Menzel or Plowman end up as the Giants' third selection.

At pick seven, Port Adelaide is likely to choose between Grundy and fellow South Australian Sam Mayes. Victorians Jackson Macrae and Kristian Jaksch will also come into contention at this selection.

The Power already has four players on their list at 200cm or more, although the 202cm Grundy is considered ready for senior action next year.

But if Port choose to overlook Grundy he will get through to the Tigers, with Brisbane not interested in drafting another ruckman after choosing Billy Longer last year at pick eight.

It means Grundy could fall into the Tigers' lap at pick nine, a coup for the club given its lack of ruck depth.

It lost Angus Graham to Adelaide during the Gillette AFL Trade Period, and has shown interest in bolstering its ruck department by inviting delisted duo Orren Stephenson and Cameron Wood to train with it ahead of the draft.

Complicating matters is that the Tigers are also fond of prolific midfielder Macrae, and also like Vic Metro captain Nick Vlastuin.

If the Tigers don't go with Grundy, the Giants could afford to pick him with selection 14, which would be the steal of this year's draft.

Essendon (pick 10) has committed to star junior Joe Daniher, while Carlton (pick 11) has other priorities to address ahead of adding another ruckman to its list.

Gold Coast holds pick 13 but is unlikely to pick another ruckman with the abundance of young big men on its developing list.

Would love to take Grundy at pick 9, is a beast.

So we'll more than likely have a choice between:

Grundy, Macrae, Stringer, Garner and Vlastuin. Pick 9 looking bloody good this year  :thumbsup

Could it be that we weren't expecting him to be available?
And you may not think I care for you

Doubt anyone thought it was a realistic option.

I'm 100% certain Quayle herself didn't think Grundy was a realistic option of being available at pick 9. When asked she said something along the lines of he wouldn't get past Port at pick 7.

This guy would be like an extra mid once the ball hits the ground. Very agile for a big man, uses the ball really well, think he was travelling above 70% DE at the Champs.

Sounds like the top 10 is bloated with talent and we're going to walk away with a ripper.
