I'm not a movie buff by any stretch and rarely if ever go to the cinema but we rented a movie on Box Office the other night that I enjoyed.  St Vincent (Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy) - it's light, funny in parts, decent if not stretched storyline but great for killing a couple of hours without getting intense or emotional.

I know it's a bit more mainstream than a lot of the movies that her reviewed here, but I watched interstellar for the second time and have to say the movie is great.

All the scientific theory, time, space , dimensions etc were sewn into a great script with amazing effects and generally good acting.

Four stars from me  :thumbsup

Yep watched it twice now and is one of my favourites. I'm pretty familiar with Kip Thorne as he's on a lot of docos I've got here so found it a little easier to get my head around some of the stuff than my missus did. Was really refreshing to see a really heavy scifi, been slim pickings for a while now.

A heavy sci - fi without characters or themes to pander to the family  :thumbsup

i watched a b grade horror movie today... well three quarters of it....
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Yahweh? or the great Clawski?

If it was the same one I watched then I would class it as a slapstick comedy based on a tragic theme.

a tragically recurring theme
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Need to get up photo of all my Ikea shelving chock full of blurays that is starting to resemble JB hifi. Whenever there is a 2 for 20 or 30 or 20% off I grab movies for the sake it and put them away, usually forgetting I even have them.

Anyway, this weekend got into Gone Girl and Deliver us from evil. Didn't want a bar of Gone Girl because of Ben Affleck but turned into a great thriller. Deliver us from evil with Eric Bana just another Hollywood exorcism type film. It was bearable and that's it.

Drove up to the Cameo in Belgrave and saw the movie...... Ex machina.
This  is a Sci fi movie with elements of horror and voyeurism thrown in.Although some of the actors faces seemed familiar they were more or less unknown names to me.
The movie revolves around an employee working for a dot.com billionaire who wins a contest to spend a week with the owner. The owner could be best described as a scientist who has developed a cyborg with the potential for consciousness. I wont go any further except to say this movie is riveting stuff, had me glued to my seat  throughout.
I give this

Meant to post about this the other week

We went to the movies for the first time in who knows how long

Went to see the latest Mad Max movie "Mad Max: Fury Road"

For something that's not normally the genre of movies I watch I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Charlize Theron steals the film, simply outstanding.

Great thing is this movie sticks to traditions of the first one, yep that one made 35+ years ago.

No hesitation in giving this

"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

from the song "Don't Walk Away" by Pat Benatar 1988 (Wide Awake In Dreamland)
