Vlastuin is in doubt to face Carlton in their season-opener, having hurt his hamstring “with his last kick” in the clash against Geelong last weekend.

Vlastuin said that he was fighting to be fit in time to take on the Blues, coming as the Tigers seek amends for last season’s flame-out.

Floss will be touch and go. Round 1 being on a Thursday night will be just under 3 weeks since he did his hammy. As I said in the training thread, he was running pretty well today. So it doesn't look too bad a hammy. Touchwood he's okay by the time we run out against the Blues but if there's any doubt I'd rather give him another week to make sure he is 100%. No point risking him only for him to redo it and we lose him for the whole first month of the season.

No need to risk him if we are a real contender then covering Vlastuin, Rioli, Lambert and Graham should not be too big a deal.

Richmond defender Nick Vlastuin will miss the early rounds of the home and away season as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Tigers coach Damien Hardwick confirmed Vlastuin won't feature in Thursday's clash with Carlton and may miss the 10-day turnaround for his side's Round 2 bout with Greater Western Sydney on Sunday, March 27.

Vlastuin suffered tightness in his hamstring during the Tigers' practice match against Geelong last month and has since required treatment ahead of Richmond's season opener.

"Nick had a bit of a setback so he'll probably miss a couple of early rounds, which is a little bit disappointing, because it's such an important player," Hardwick said on Tuesday.

"We want to make sure when he comes back he's right to go.

"It's been a little bit of a challenging injury that we've had a little bit of difficulty with, but he will respond hopefully well and be back in the early rounds."

Floss just did some walking around the boundary today. If he's redone his hammy then he'll miss at least a month you would think. We might not see him until late April/early May  .
