Grimes & Vlastuin are undisputed guns...but reckon Astbury - who was always the weakest link of the Rance-Grimes-Astbury triumvirate -  is starting to look like the end is getting ever closer and Broad's always been "enigmatic"....Houli's serving up a mixed bag too...when he's not injured and will probably retire at year's end...and my well known view of Short hasn't altered one iota...yet it's still somehow working reasonably well as a unit ... just not sure for how long...particularly if the ball keeps coming down there at the current rate...:shh

For mine, Floss is one of the few Tigers who hasn't dropped away so far this year. While most of his teammates are fumbling, missing simple targets and running over the footy, Floss in defence remains reliable and is clean by hand and foot.

Yep been our best this year.

And his leadership qualities are showing as well...

Entire defence has been fine, we’ve only conceded 100 points over the past 2 weeks. Haven’t looked it up myself but I’m sure if you looked up inside 50s conceded, shots at goal conceded, etc, they will all be around the mark of the past few years.

Problem is higher up the field. Our forwards have been anonymous but they’re not helped at all by the crap entries we’ve been making. How many times last night did they just bomb it in long to around the 40-45m mark? Hawks went tall in defence and once you turn it over with shallow entries you’re in trouble.

Showcasing his trademark intelligent reading of the play, poise, toughness and precision by hand and foot, he finished the match with 22 disposals, 10 intercepts, six marks, five score involvement and five rebound-50s.

Vlastuin has been a strong performer in the Richmond defence for many seasons, and certainly would not look out of place wearing an All-Australian blazer.

I was surprised that they didn’t swing down forward in the second half. He has pinched hit there in the past, from memory against the Saints a couple of years ago.
We could’ve done with his poise and he’s a decent shot for goal too...
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Floss is one of the few Tigers having as good 2020 as last year.

Second most kicks.
Second for marks.
Third in contested marks.
Second for Rebound D50s.
Second for one percenters.

Next year?

I think cotch will captain another couple of years yet. Be interesting to see if they add another player to the leadership group to take rances spot.

I have no idea who's vocal and is a good leader off the field, but on field I would take vlastuin over Grimes.
