Floss said on 7news tonight that he has no recollection of the GF. Most of the day is a blank. He just remembers tiny bits such as a couple of Dusty's freak goals and the medal presentation.

"Nick got that knee complaint," Hardwick said.

"We're not exactly sure what that is … but he'll have scans tomorrow. But from our point of view, it was fine. Once again, you look at the game, there are 75 rotations … it was tough. It is going to be difficult.

Nick Vlastuin fears cartilage damage to his knee which he hyperextended last night. Denied sub tactics were at play. “Couldn’t walk up and down stairs so definitely couldn’t have played.”
Hear from @Richmond_FC defender @9NewsMelb.

Update: @nickvlastuin says ppl who doubt his injury are ‘idiots’. Playing on would’ve been a risk. Had to get a mate to do his socks and shoes for him. Can’t bend knee, drive or do stairs. Not sure if he’ll miss games issue with ‘the cartilage or the fat pad’.

dont agree with injury sub rule at all.
We went from 18 with 19 20 man  to 18 with two rotations to 22 with 4 rotations. Over the last  decade we have had numerous rule changes to combat the effect of interchange that allows teams to run and flood at will. What is the point of reducing down to 75 rotations supposedly to tire players so they cant run as hard both ways and flood then allow a bloke to come on fresh  defeats the purpose a tad imo.

Also what about the duty of care what happens if a player the size of say dusty comes on fresh as a daisy half way thru the third and cleans up a few who are fatigued.

No wonder so many people in my age group are turned off against the game.

Just extend the bench to five or even six. With the new interchange limits that are likely going to decrease even further in the future it shouldn't be that big of a deal.Agree with Hardwick that the more players getting opportunities to play senior footy, the better...just not this way... :shh

It’s a similar story for Nick Vlastuin at Richmond. The three-time premiership defender, who was the subject of speculation regarding the seriousness of his injury, has been very sore in the days since he hyperextended his knee against the Blues.

The Tigers say he remains an outside chance to play in Round 2, but is more likely to need more time to recover from the injury.

Any player who is subbed from a game and looking to play the next week, must have his eligibility approved by AFL chief medical officer, Peter Harcourt.

Caro last night said Floss is expected to play this Sunday. The 9-day break has helped.

Peter Burge's update on Floss:

Nick Vlastuin, knee

"During the game, Nick came off the ground and was in quite a bit of pain with his knee, which we think was a hyperextension incident where he was trying to kick the ball off the ground and did not make contact with the ball.

“He came off the ground and he was in a lot of pain and he could barely walk down the stairs into the race into the doctor's rooms.

“Initially we were not too sure what was going on. We thought it could have been a significant corky above his knee, but subsequently, we (also) thought it could be something more sinister (like) structural damage or some kind of subluxation in his knee joint.

“The scans the next day showed he had a little bit of fluid in his knee, but he had squashed the fat pad in his knee and it bled quite a bit, hence his restriction.

“He could not bend his knee at all when he was assessed and we were assessing him for up to 10 minutes, trying tape and various things.

“He definitely was no good to go back out on the ground to play the rest of the game.

“He has been pretty sore over the weekend and has only started walking normally today, so we are hopeful that by the end of the week he would be able to be back in some sort of jogging and running and we will be able to assess how he progresses from there.""

He’s resigned for 5 more years ..... on the club website. Great news. Fantastic player. We need to look after our triple premiership players  ;D
