White & Vlastuin, they have even said it on AFL 360, they said really this side from last year round one has not changed, poo if Newman plays in the back line what are we doing and where are we going????

Agree with White & Vlastuin. But I wouldn't take anything out of the way the teams actually listed.

The personnel may not have changed, but hopefully another preseason and an extra 15+ or so games into guys like Conca, Ellis, Batchelor etc will be a difference for the better. We can't just rely on getting new guys in, it's up to these sorts to keep stepping up.

Not trying to say it's a good side if anyone interprets it that way. Just trying to justify why the side is like it is.  :thumbsup

I agree with you  :thumbsup. I saw the complaining about the side in another thread before I saw the side and was expecting something terrible. But really only Petterd (injury) was missing from who I was expecting, although I thought Vlastuin deserved a game I never thought he'd get one and to a lesser degree White. But can you imagine the uproar if White got a game and not Nahas, people would be complaining about bringing in the same old spuds.

No I'm not taking much out of the listing, just saying that if Newman ends up where he played last year I am not sure what we are doing, particularly when he has been playing wing/forward all pre season.

With these players selected we can't afford passengers, we need 100% out of the players that usually on just get by..Jackson, Nahas, Ty, King and even Griff.....that's a lot of passengers for mine and Vlastuin and White would of removed two of them....

Anyway lets just hope!

Vlast has to play

I think he will to be honest

You can't not reward his NAB cup yet reward Edwards pathetic efforts

I expect a late change

While agree with you daniel about Vlaustin not being selected

I think you are being harsh on Shane Edwards, he was good during the pre-season

The selected Edwards is Shane not Aaron  ;D

fine then my mistake, i just saw Edwards at CHF and thought it was A Edwards

If it was A Edwards a dozen manure trucks would have been at Punt Road Oval this morning  ;D

These are the only ones I agree with gerkin. Except for maybe Nahas at this point as Knights is fresh from coming back from injury and hasn't had a lot of minutes yet.

Reckon he's had enough minutes with the VFL praccies and touched the ball 10 x more times than Nahas.

I'd take a 2 to 3 qtr cameo from Knights over a Nahas 20 minute cameo for this game

Can't argue with that, all I can guess us that Nahas and others were under instruction and only 'going through the motions' all pre-season to ensure they get their required game time and no injuries. With Knights emergency I reckon he's close enough that they're happy to have him in if required but would prefer to have him wait just one more week. Also trying to convince myself that Nahas is there to suck in Yarran. Could have played White in this role though. Reckon of Knights played instead they'd just put a token small back on him since he isn't as quick and Yarran would chop us up from half back.

Agree with the sentiment of you and WP though. I'll give him the benefit that I reckon he'll be a role player tonight, but needs to pull his finger out to stay in the team.

Agreed especially he looked pretty sharp further up field. But was it Petterd setting him free and now with his injury his forced to go back again? Or does Batch take Petterds spot.

In the end we got the win so all's well that ends well.

Was great to see vickery have such a good game. Was not expecting that after his preseason, should gain a lot of confidence from that. If he can build on that he'll be right.

Also, that was probably the best tall fwd setup we've had for a while. Jack was moving all over the place and creating plenty of holes and confusion for Vicks and mcGuane played his role well too.
