Quote from: Stripes on April 12, 2013, 10:15:50 PMMy only problem with having a reserves side is that if we have injuries we may be forced to play kids who are not ready. In 2014 will we still need VFL 'recruits' to fill the gaps?Have said this before: We will be required to have a VFL only list of players, these are referred to as "top up" players to ensure we have a enough players to field a team in the VFL if we have excess injuries to AFL listed players - this is a requirement of the VFL liscencing agreement imposed on the AFL clubs wishing to stand alone in the VFL. Not sure of the minimum number but I think for memeory it is 10 or 12. Look at Geelong they have the other Selwood brother who used to play for Brisbane on their VFL list and is thier VFL captain. Collingwood up until this season had the other Pendlebury on their VFL list. Stand alone VFL teams usually target a couple ox ex AFL players and then top up with kids who've just missed out on being rookiedQuote from: Bentleigh-esque on April 13, 2013, 08:18:09 AMWhat do you mean?We will sign pure Richmond listed VFL players to cover injury.I assume to play in the development league too?Have said this before tooThe RFC will not field a team in the VFL development league. They don't have to and more improtantly are not allowed to, the development league is for traditional VFL clubs only and it is part of their licence agreement Any RFC VFL listed (top up) player not selected to play for the VFL side will have to play for a team in a suburban league

What happens to afl listed players if team balance is an issue when we are stand alone. Today we played way too many talls. Do they play in another lower comp? Do we have 3rd's?
