I have mentioned this before but when we are relying on Matty White, Robby Nahas and Jakey King as our crumbing forwards we are in big trouble.
We must find a small forward capable of kicking a bag, and fleet of foot at ground level.
Look at Hawks, young Hill, PA young Neade. They generate excitement and really trouble opposition defence.
We simply dont have this on our list.
the biggie that you miss is the lack of skill and smarts that the three lack. people wonder why we keep on losing close games or suddenly drop away dramatically in form. look no further it is the simple fact we play far too many players who lack polish or have gaping basic deficiencies.
what a forward set up 3 talls of which one in mcguane lacks skill and vision along with three runts who get little ball and cant kick or buy themselves time and make poor decisions.
people blame the mids for poor delivery jeezus h Geez a lot of it is a total lack of options. at times on sat we may as well have played statues with the lack of movement and cohesion from our forwards. but its not just sat night its most games.
lets play three talls forward its standard practice now days. we can debate and argue to our hearts content on who they should be and where and how they should operate. but we need to change the rest of it.
we desperately need a sml who applies pressure on the opposition backs that player is king. we want a sml/med who reads it well and can kick a goal shane edwards needs to spend more time forward and he needs to perform the sml forward role.
play a medium or rotate medium sized mids thru there. would like to see what petterd can offer forward and knights can spend more time there. and would definately be rotating deledio and martin thru there.
there is absolutely no need to play three substandard smls in the one forward line. it literally makes the set up two dimensional. make no mistake white king and nahas are battlers.
keep the hacks at coburg.
