Lance Franklin delays deal for Richmond star Jack Riewoldt Al Paton

June 21, 2013 11:33AMTHE Lance Franklin contract saga is delaying a new deal for Richmond star Jack Riewoldt.
Franklin and Riewoldt are both out of contract at the end of the season and share the same manager, Liam Pickering.
Franklin is in the sights of GWS, which is prepared to offer the Hawthorn spearhead as much as $12 million over six years.
Complicating negotiations is the fact the Giants are also interested in Riewoldt, who would be a strong Plan B if Franklin decides to stick with Hawthorn.
"My management same as Lance Franklin so they've got bigger fish to fry at the moment," Riewoldt told Gold FM today.
The dual Coleman Medalist said he hadn't received any offers from other clubs, but was not in a hurry to sign a new contract with the Tigers.
"If the deal gets done, it gets done, if it takes a couple of extra weeks then I'll hang around.
"If the deal can get done I'll be there, signing on the dotted line."
Riewoldt said he was one of several high-profile Tigers coming out of contract, including Dustin Martin and Alex Rance. He also listed Trent Cotchin and when it was pointed out that the skipper had signed a contract extension to the end of 2015 a month ago, Riewoldt said "I think Trent has (signed), but Alex and Dustin haven't, it's just a lengthy process."
