Richmond's reality-check defeat to North Melbourne was compounded by an ankle injury to Daniel Jackson, the late withdrawal of Bachar Houli with a hamstring issue, and the accidental concussion of promising youngster Brandon Ellis.

The trio is in doubt for the Tigers' clash with Gold Coast at Cazaly's Stadium, where they are winless from two encounters with the Suns.

The Barometer - Round 16
Herald-Sun
Monday, July 8 2013

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK:
Brandon Ellis was substituted out of the heavy loss to the Roos with concussion. He must pass tests this week but should be deemed fit to face the Suns. Nick Vlastuin returned but struggled to have an impact, while Matt Dea didn’t have his best day. Orren Stephenson will only survive if Maric doesn’t come up.

ON THE CUSP:
IF Damien Hardwick wants a good, solid big-bodied midfielder to strengthen his engine room against the young Suns then Shane Tuck is his man. The veteran collected 30 disposals for Coburg in the VFL and again impressed with his attitude and leadership. Luke McGuane booted a pair of goals while Maric is an outside chance of returning from a groin strain. Houli said on Sunday he should be fine to return for Multicultural Round.

SAM LANDSBERGER’S FORECAST:
PAUL Roos reckons the Tigers played the worst 47 seconds in footy history 12 months ago when they somehow squandered a lead against Gold Coast in Cairns. The Tigers are 0-2 against the Suns at the tropical spot and Saturday will end their deal to play home games up there for good. If it ends in another loss the Tigers will lose a huge chunk of credibility – and it could spell trouble with Sydney (away) and Hawthorn to follow.

I don't suppose Richo could come into our forward line to provide another marking option?

Ivan, Houli and Jacko expected to be right to play this week; Ellis to be tested.

Straight swaps.
Jackson for Tuck
Houli for Petterd
Ellis for Arnot

Also Maric for Stephenson.

Doubt it would happen though. Those changes would be picking a team on form rather than the pets.

RFC site states
"And in-form midfielder Daniel Jackson is expected to be fit to play the Suns, despite being hampered by an ankle injury in the match against the Kangaroos."
Thank god. We may as well put Nahas and McGuane back in as well.

For my money if Tuck doesn't play this week they can stick their club up their back side. Arnott should be in as well. We were as weak as urine last week. My grandmother has more fight in her and she's been dead 3 years.

They will make Tuck retire 10 years early.

Richmond

Half-back Bachar Houli, who was a late withdrawal against the North Melbourne, is expected to return from hamstring soreness for Saturday night's clash against Gold Coast in Cairns. Ruckman Ivan Maric is also set for inclusion after two weeks on the sidelines because of a groin strain. Stoppage specialist Shane Tuck has returned from a shoulder injury through the VFL and appears ready for an AFL recall, while Matthew Arnot and Ricky Petterd have pressed strong claims with Coburg. Brandon Ellis will need to pass a concussion test this week, while Daniel Jackson (ankle) is expected to be fit.

Any idea how they do the concussion test?
All the players do the test prior to the season IIRC to calibrate their "normal" state. So when they do the test again after suffering concussion, the doctor can compare and see if the player has suffered any ill effects from a knock to the head.
