The finalised draft order today has us now with 6 picks - 12, 50, 66, 78, 88 and 93 (Petterd's rookie elevation).

With only 3 senior spots free on our senior list, I'm not sure how we can have 5 picks to use :huh3

We have 5 spots left if we want a main list of 40 with 4 rookies. But we will go with the 38 + 6 rookies again so only the 3 picks and Petterd and then pass the other 2.

Would be good if we did pick 4 players and have only 5 rookies.

Why 6? Cheaper?

Cheaper and it also means 6 guys are fighting for 2 spots. Keep 'em hungry. Orren and Darrou will be pushing for it and I'm expecting at least one of this years rookies to be mature aged.

also one year contract as opposed to two.

Why do you think it's better to put them on the main list.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Callum Twomey in his live chat on the AFL website today:

"Obviously they [Richmond] have a couple of later picks. Maybe Sam Lloyd is a chance with their last selection, if not as a rookie. They are down to Jake King as their main small forward now."

Brett Anderson also says many AFL clubs are interested in Colac's James Linton as a late pick.

Sam Lloyd (Frankston, 23, 182cm, 82kg): an excitement package from top to toe: likes nothing better than submitting contenders for mark and goal of the year. Regularly succeeded on both counts. Kicked 38 goals from 17 games (and a century of goals for Deniliquin in 2010) in his first season swimming with the Dolphins.

Paul Amy has done a write up of all the potential draftees out of the VFL:

Is the draft on the Gold Coast during schoolies a good idea?

They're going to do the top 10 first and then have a break before doing picks 11-24.
