The thing I cannot understand is after a huge preseason, how do you come out and give that effort. You have been busting your balls for months to get fitter and stronger and that's what they serve up. Surely there is more than half a side that needs to show the coach they can preform at that level. What a waste for most players on the cusp.
What it really showed me is those players we all have question marks over, have not improved. And more than likely never will.
Players like Griffiths, Astbury, Helbig, and even Aaron Edwards were IMO very disappointing! These guys have had a taste of AFL footy and know what is needed but still serve up what they did. IMO all four of these blokes will never be a part of anything good at Tigerland. They have all been on our list or another but struggle at every opportunity.
The other thing I think gets missed in all this is our membership drive, we are traveling so well with memberships but a lose like this doesn't do anything to help that. You put a side out there to take care of business and win by 50 odd and membership still keeps on tracking nicely. An effort like that just puts doubts in people's minds that were thinking on maybe buying a membership this year because maybe things have changed at Tigerland.
Win every game you play Tigers, like loosing becomes a habit, so does winning.
