Slow
« on: March 30, 2014, 09:32:20 AM »
After watching our game, the Sydney/Pies, Crows/Port game, comparatively we look slow and indecisive. I hope it's just round 2 syndrome but we moved the ball much quicker...??

I think we're a quick team, but only when we want/need to be.

Carlton is very quick. I think we played at a purposeful pace because we knew we couldn't outrun them. But I predict you'll see faster football from the Tiges in future rounds.

There's absolutely no doubt that we're not a quick team.

We play a high possession game that can come unstuck when teams play 1 on 1 against us and for that reason we are susceptible on the rebound. Teams can out run us when they have the ball.

Not sure where the speed is going to come from because we desperately require players who can break the lines and shake things up as well as chase hard to win it back or win it at ground level.

I'm usually optimistic but this aspect is very worrying IMO.

When you can't hit a target you will look ridiculously slow.  :lol

We aren't a fast running team. When we are on we move the ball quickly. When we aren't then boy it looks bad. We saw both in the one game on Thursday. Carlton couldn't keep up with our quick ball movement in the first half. Then we were slow and just bombed it long and they were all over us. The day we go for the kill we will beat them by 10-12 goals.

I think our players should wear blinkers so they can't see the scoreboard. We seem to adjust our game by scores for some reason. I understand why you slow the game down when an opposition team has a run on but you don't do it when you have a run on yourself. It seems a lack footy brains is taking coaching tactics too literally and not using common sense

You don't need to be superquick. Geelong were never a 'fast' team when they were winning those premierships they had one or 2 like Varcoe breaking the lines and used them accordingly. Same with the hawks. They were/are however very hardworking and move the ball extremely quickly.

Who are ours who can do that?

1 or 2 is all you need though. Someone to scare the other team. We have zero.  :banghead
