Soldo going nowhere – for nowJon Ralph, Glenn McFarlane and Jay Clark

26 September 2023 6:45pmRichmond is keen to hold onto Ivan Soldo despite Port Adelaide’s interest in him as a ruckman to play alongside Jordan Sweet.
Soldo battled plantar fascia issues this season but his form was strong playing the last seven games of the year in a row.
The Power has delisted ruckman Brynn Teakle and, while it has offered Scott Lycett another year, footy boss Chris Davies said last week he was banged up and pondering retirement.
That is unlikely, with the Roos, St Kilda, Geelong and Essendon all needing a back-up ruckman.
But Richmond has no intention of releasing Soldo, given it has only young rucks Samson Ryan and Ben Miller under co-captain Todd Nankervis.
He comes out of contract next year but they could still trade him then so aren’t inclined to let him go.
Under new coach Adem Yze, the Tigers will need to get a trade deal done for Hawthorn’s Jacob Koschitzke, who has asked for a trade to Punt Road.
