Hmm we want a good pick well if it cant be a good pick this year why not a future pick. ffs we are in for the long haul as far as rebuild goes and i fear while he has currency we should make off like thieves.

Port Adelaide remain interested in Richmond big-man Ivan Soldo

The only way (currently) a trade would go through is if Soldo requests a trade, as the Tigers wish to keep him

-On Port’s interest in Ivan Soldo, Blair Hartley said: “Look, Ivan’s contracted. We’re intent on keeping him. So that’s where it sits at the moment. We haven’t had any conversations with Port Adelaide.”

He was drafted in 2014 as a cat b rookie. We have had him 9 years and got just 57 games out of him. He will be 28 almost at the start of next year.

The consensus of MOST tiger supporters over the years was he was a spud. Every year as far as stats go he has been bloody awful which basically backs up peoples views. The aside is he has had a few very short periods where he has actually played to the level.
Seems finding any sort of decent talls to replace chronic underachievers  remains a big problem at the club.

Personally i cannot work out what P/A see in him all i can say is they must be terribly desperate for a ruckman.

"Soldo has an interest in getting to Port Adelaide. Richmond are holding firm though."

Twomey asked if Port's future second rounder would get the Soldo deal done.

Beveridge replied that that may begin to twist Richmond's arm, but Richmond may still say no at least initially as we would need to bring in a replacement ruckman and it may be too late to do the due diligence.

RICHMOND

Ivan Soldo –
The ruck’s move to Port Adelaide is looking less and less likely and he hasn’t made any public proclamation yet. The Power have plenty on their plate.

We can’t play both soldo and nank in the same team imo. So what’s the point in keeping him.. back up?

Wouldn't you just go.
Duursma to Bombers for pick 30
Soldo for pick 30
Gives us 28 & 30.

Back up is basically what he is, isn't it? He got more games this year because Lynch was missing and we needed some sort of height up forward, so we went with the dual ruck combo. But if Nank is fit and/or unsuspended for a moment and Lynch is playing, I don't think Soldo gets a game. If Port Adelaide are saying he'd be no 1 ruck, surely he'd take that.

Thought some of his performances at the end of the year were better.

Kicked 2.3 vs North I think including a ripper mark and some great physicality. Unfortunately that's not the standard but rather his season highlight. If he was like that every week it would be great.

Pick 30 this year is supposedly worthless so we may as well keep him. Nank is guaranteed to get injured and Lynch is either going to have a delayed start to '24 or will get injured too.

"Weirdly enough, the Dogs may just be able to retain someone they didn't want to lose in Jordan Sweet."

If true, Port may go harder for Soldo.
