The Ivan Soldo situation turned around quite quickly.

- Twomey & Beveridge.

Watch here: https://twitter.com/traderadio/status/1714457220010881279

Twomey says it's effectively Soldo for 3 picks as 49/50 pretty much cancel out. So Soldo for pick 41, F2 & F4.

Twomey also wonders if we now go to the free agency market to pick up a cheap back-up ruck like Port's Scott Lycett (203cm), Brynn Teakle (204cm), Sam Hayes (203cm), or someone from the state leagues.

Put simply we need more talls. Lost Bradtke, biggie and now soldo. Ryan doesn’t look up to it and kosi isn’t a ruckman although he could play backup. Ryan is literally our only tall developing in the vfl.

Are you serious, Ryan doesn't look up to it . Bollocks.. We played our best footy when he rucked.. once his body fills out and gets some muscle mass on him he will become a damn good dangerous ruck that can also play forward. We won more clearances when he rucked. Nank and Soldo were our problem not Ryan

General Manager – Football Talent, Blair Hartley said “Ivan worked tirelessly during his 10 years at Richmond to go from a rookie to a premiership player.

“During his time at the club he showed great commitment and professionalism and is a much-loved teammate.

“We thank Ivan for his contribution to our club and we wish him well in his future endeavours.”

His hitouts are great, but thats literally it. Offered nothing around the ground and was completely useless at ground level.

Averaged 7 disposals, 2.8 marks and less than a tackle a game..

Nank: 16.7 disposals, 2,4 marks and 5.4 tackles

Soldo: 10 disposals, 3.8 marks, 3.75 tackles

LMAO - Ryan will be streets better than both ....some of his ruckwork when Nank & Slomo were both out was of the highest quality we've seen at Richmond since Snakeman's one half-decent year with us in '08 and arguably this century (no Ottens wasn't a good ruckman until he went to Geelong) - also quicker and far more agile than Nank & Slomo (not hard I know) :shh

I actually think Samson looks more relaxed and confident when he gets to be 1st ruck. Build his tank and fill him out asap and we might have a handy player

He had his limitations, but for a cat B rookie to play in a premiership and then get a return of 3 picks for him, id say that his pickup was a great success.

Good luck to the big man. Hopefully port supporters are more easy on him than the Richmond ones were.

Wish him the best. Can understand why he left. Played his part in the 2019 premiership.

Port are going to have a bloody slow side next year....and a new coach by the end of it I suspect....  :shh

Yep, their trade period as show ponies up there with the Hawks and Bombers as being all tip and no iceberg….
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Think a bit of recency bias on nank there. He has been below his best the past 2-3 seasons sure, but he was an absolute beast and extremely important in our dynasty years. To say Ryan will be streets better than him is going too early imo. He looks promising in his ruck work, sure, but his around the ground stuff is poor. We all hope this will improve as he grows into his body but it’s far from a sure thing. And if it doesn’t improve in that regard, he’ll get nowhere near to being the player nank was. Rucks the most overrated position in the league, you can get away with them just being competitive in ruck contests, can’t get away with them providing very little around the ground though.

I think the assertion we’re all making is Ryan will be better than bank’s recent form not Ryan will surpass bank’s heights.

I don’t think any one doubts how good he was around the ground, contested marking and goal kicking was in our dynasty years
