Poster on BF who claims to be Robinson's brother reckons we made a "woeful" offer and it's now highly unlikely he'll be coming to us.

The Tigers will use five draft picks on young talent in next month’s national draft but could secure Robinson, 25, for free as a delisted free agent and place him on the rookie list.

I could be wrong but as far as I was aware, the bit in bold about putting a delisted free agent on your rookie list is not allowed by the AFL.

AFAIK if you want to rookie a DFA they have to enter the rookie draft like everyone else and then hope they're still there at your pick. Like last year with Thomas.(not that there was ever any danger of another club taking him.)

can someone explain to me how we have 5 nd picks.
we cut 5 from the list proper ohanlon, jackson, king, edwards, and helbig.  that would create 5 picks. thing is we have promoted miles to the list proper  taking one of those spots.
what am i missing here to me to use 5 nd picks we have to cut another player.

actually when you look at the slim pickings that are on offer when it comes to the delisted f/as robinson with all of his flaws is probably the best performed of them all.
we can add him to petterd and thomas who should provide depth when injury hits. our trouble is you know thomas petterd and robinson will play most games because they quite frankly warts and all give more than the younger blokes who should be forcing them out.
in fact we have so few genuine mids in reserve,  you know they will play a lot of senior footy.

Dan Richardson explicitly said yesterday while we want another "inside midfield bull", we have no interest in Mitch Robinson. The club doesn't want to recruit players who have had off-field issues and are poohouse. The same thing goes for Jeff Garlett.

The scary bit is, he would be in our best 22 IMO. The other two you mention are not IMO.
The even scarier bit is, he probably takes Conca's spot.

I would have thought Taylor Hunt would be the best of the delisted F/A lot

I agree with you and dwaino on this

Honestly thought clubs would have been queuing up to get Taylor Hunt absolutely free as a DFA. Would almost be a walk up start in every side outside top 4. Pretty disappointing if we didn't at least enquire.
