I was actually impressed a little by Shaun Clampsem. Has to find another gear but that should be the bare minimum of what he provides week in week out.

Vickery has officially lost me
You were impressed by the big spud? Maybe your easily pleased .

Anyway welcome aboard the Ty "sideshow bob" Vickery disapproval society, nice to have you aboard. There is still room in the Hamspud hatred committee if you ever come to your senses. :thumbsup
Thought Hampson rucked well today

10-12 players rested and out there with kids and Elton playing as a key back.
Dogs had virtually a full team.
Thought we defended well and Vlaustin was great. Other than 2 OOTF in the last quarter.
Our kicking out of defence was terrible at times but anyway.
Thought the hitout was good kids overall were great and we got more of it out than they did.
Good to see 4 umpires still can't get the job done properly with a blindsided umpire awarding a mark t Stringer he clearly dropped right in front of the boundary umpire to get the Dogs back in the game.
If they can't put us away with a team of kids they will struggle.
More for us to take home.
Hopefully some later round picks will

Already like Castagna and Butler from the newbies.
Thought Elton was good too.
Miles was good in the middle.
Knights looked good and sharp.
Batch looked ok in patches too.
Liked McKenzie in patches too.

Now for the bad ones and they will sound like a broken record but I thought
Grimes made a few blues,
Why why why Ty? Undisciplined and uninterested. That 3rd quarter free was from someone IMHO who still hasn't got his head right.

Overall liked what I saw. Hopefully we can get some later picks to step up and fill a few holes in our list.

I would add short to the list, was right in amongst it tackling, spoiling and slotted a goal too.

Agreed. :thumbsup

Luke Beveridge played a strong list, wanted to start the season on a positive note.

Damien Hardwick played a weak side, happy to start the season with a loss.

Think about which of those gentlemen has greater job security right now.

Never rated the big spud but as a back up Ruckman who is going to whither away in the 2's until something happens to Maric I thought his game was serviceable. Plenty of hit outs and actually touched the ball a couple of times, had someone beat on the lead too but got a woeful kick over his head although know him he wouldn't of marked it.

Yep sick to death of sticking up for the stuff wit giving him more and more time because he can kick a goal and shows glimpses but enough is enough.

Not many stood up with 4 quater performances today. That could be a function of the 25 players or even the wind but maybe only lambert looks like he would  push for inclusion apart from our past regulars. Thing that makes me smile is that side the Dogs put up will get a hiding in round 2. Watching the game it was easy to see the difference between that and our best 22. Talk all the negative you want guys but it wasnt a bad run for a less than 50% of our top 22.

based on that praccie game you would play hamspud in front of vickery. the same vickery who has had his team mates talking up how good hes been in the off season lol.

hes a bloke who would be trying hard to prove himself after the way he finished last season. praccie game or not everything to play for but as usual there was no show from bob.

really? Vickery has upside i think but his chances are running out.

Hampson has had plenty of chances and sorry to say will always be an average footballer.

also mate i didnt watch a minute of the game as i dont rate these bull poo matches.

Thoughts on Elton? Thought he showed why we have been persistent with him but still lacks that next level

Then why question it and what does upside and plenty of chances got to do with my opinion of him in this one particular game?

yep i agree the dogs will probably get the spoon. no side can have as much experience walk out the door and not suffer.its made worse when your a young rebuilding side already near the bottom and it happens
a simple fact though  is wb played more kids than us that is 22 and under. they had 15 we had 12.
what is obvious to me is after 8 or 10 players we just drop away terribly.
