Of course Jack was considerably worse in the prelim than George was in the GF....because George wasn't bad at all. He'd be gutted not have joined the party at some point with a snag but still.

Yes, he has perhaps some of the worst finishing going around but the rest of his game can be fantastic. Every so often he'll get the fumbles but a lot of the time he's a super quick, strong in the air, a manic pressurer (that even a word?) + hard nut who contributes in many ways. Have always said if you merged Butler & Castagna, you get a gun. I wish he had Dan's leg but you get what you get, we've still got a pretty good player.

Get someone in to do some work with him on his goal kicking. Schulzy lives in Melbourne....:shh Kid could easily kick 40+ per year with a reliable technique

I think I just take serious objection to the line being toted that he's selfish.

Its "Grimes is soft"-esque.

Couldn't imagine a guy who's more team orientated.

He's like a young colt that can't quite truly harness his powers to the full extent. But man did he slice em up on Saturday.

If George is to settled he thinks to much and misses.
If he's going flat out or at extreme pace, his mind can't keep up with his body and he misses.
If he's moving not to fast, not to slow and his mind stays with him he will kick them.

In the GF, his mind couldn't stay with his body, this effected his goal kicking but made him outstanding in other areas.

I might nick name him Goldilocks because he needs to be moving, not to slow, not to fast, but just right to be an effective goal kicker.

Great assessment of his game.

Agreed, mind can't keep up.

But FMD he has pace to burn this kid. Has left Butler behind, and IMO is less talented than Rioli but puts in significantly more effort.

Richmond's 4th best forward: Jason Castagna

Season returns of 26, 26 and 27 highlights Castagna’s consistency, even if he mixes his best with his worst from minute to minute. Capable of both the incredible and the incompetent, he always puts himself in the picture with relentless forward line pressure. He is building a very nice CV and if he can straighten up in front of goal, can make himself even more dangerous.

Top 30 doesn't sound good to me.

More than solid for a guy who doesn’t play midfield.

If George can kick 2-3 goals per game as he did on Thursday night then that would have him finishing with 40+ goals even in this shorter 17 round season. That would put him as one of the top small forwards in the AFL. Of course, that all depends on him kicking straight most weeks. On the positive, he is regularly involved in games now to have a number of shots.

I couldn't believe he composed himself and slotted that drop punt on the run. I was saying to mates watching that he was about to have a stuff up. Hopefully he's turned the corner

Yeah, they're the shots he usually sprays. Hopefully it's not a once off from here onwards.
