Typical over dramatic Claw post.

We got 3 premiership players out of this draft and another who played 16 games that season and 22 again this season.

Does it really matter that they came with our late and rookie picks rather than our early ones.

In hindsight, what a topsy turvy recruiting effort.

Age     Height Weight   Recruited From        Position

DFA. Taylor Hunt               24       184     78    Geelong                     Midfielder
ND12. Corey Ellis               18       185     76    Western Jets              Midfielder

ND33. Connor Menadue      18       188     69    Western Jets              Midfielder
ND52. Nathan Drummond   19       181     85    Murray Bushrangers    Midfielder
ND67. Daniel Butler            18       181     79    North Ballarat Rebels   Small Forward
ND77. Reece McKenzie        18       196   100    Northern Knights        Tall Forward
RD11. Jayden Short           18       179     71    Northern Knights        Small Forward
RD29. Jason Castagna       18       182     76    Northern Knights        Small Defender
RD46. Kane Lambert          23       178     78    Williamstown              Midfielder

Revisit the 2014 ND draft thread. i recall it well. People who had an idea about football were furious with our picks and rightly so. Corey 54% by foot Ellis. Drafting skinny and poor prospects ahead of others available.

Others who defended our drafting didnt have the faintest idea.

The issue was not that Corey Ellis was at 54% or whatever it was.

The issue was how SLOW he is. Recruiters clearly didn’t see that as Corey had an intrupted U18s and they didn’t look at his pace.

If they did say his pace is an issue then clearly got this wrong!

was it this draft Hartley said in that Corey Ellis Documentary on draft night that “these kids we have drafted we have a good feeling about”???

I think so

I wish they would just come clean like all other recruiters and say “we stuffed up badly these kids are crap”

Wasn't Cellis' KE 49%?  Clearly remember old mate Bents kept calling him "Mr. 49%" just after we drafted him..... :shh

McKenzie was a risk that didnt pay off its the first 3 rounds ND that suck. Butler is good IMHO. You really shouldnt stuff up round 1 and 2. Any pick under 40 ought to get you an AFL regular.

Actually maybe McKenzie should have been a rookie, they must have known the risks.

I remember when people thought he was going to be the next Plugga. By people I mean the Richmond BF board.

Bumped into Reece a few weeks ago. Still a nice bloke IMO. Maybe just not cut out for the AFL environment...

He's looking at playing for Marcellin next year.

You done the maths on that?
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
