Chaplin is a cheat. Plays loose man and so many times Elton had to cover for him. More interested in being the 'switcher' of the ball than defending. We have lost out massively with this idiot.

Like it or not that is his role. Not saying I agree with it but that is his role. And considering it's his he does it well, certainly did yesterday. But in the last when he needed to compete and be 3rd man he did

What a game. After being dragged there by my family which they regretted & l enjoyed watching their team get beaten  :snidegrin
l was happy l never missed out. Was one of the best games between these 2 fumbling sides l been too & the Tiger supporters really woke up & cheered the team over the line. Just over 59,000 which is getting smaller & smaller for these 2 big clubs was very disappointing but we out numbered them  :thumbsup It was a day when our senior players all stood up & l think this young side stunned the filthy Mudpies to defeat. We need to get alot better but it was a great win & the roar made my day.  ;D  :gotigers

Mackintosh hacks the ball forward too much

His ordinary & thoughtless disposal was a big part of why I never rated him in the VFL, but at AFL level and in our team with it's often stagnant gamestyle, I appreciate the way he's at least one that's always taking the game on and trying to move the ball forward.

Yeah he's not exactly a thinker out there but I enjoy his direct approach. Brings desperately needed speed. An improved game after a down couple weeks is good to see.

My thoughts as to the game today.
I only saw the last quarter so that's the caveat on these remarks.
Cotch got a lot of the ball, their tag was ineffective. This may be the biggest factor in our good performance.
Bounces and stoppages are still woeful.
Mackintosh hacks the ball forward too much
Our game seems fragile because we have to get it into the right peoples hands in the forward 50. Jack, lids today.
Vickery did the right thing taking the kick from 30 m out to put us in front.
We still do silly hand passes to people because they are name players, not because it's sensible.
At 16  goals 9 we kicked very straight. I think it was the lack of pressure. At 15 goals 10 collingwood kicked very well too. I think it was the lack of pressure.
Some obscure conclusions but you get that from watching 1/4 of the game  ::)

Not conclusions, just notes of that quarter.

Did anyone hear Dan Richardson on MMM before the game on Sunday?
He basically said the year we picked Conca, that pick 6 was basically a pick in the late teens due to the two new sides. It goes  to show how delusional they are at Tigerland if they are still talking about that. The fact that FJ chose Conca over Heppel is the part they should be worried about.

x2.

There have been times when I've wondered if I was being too harsh on him.

Then I hear him interviewed.
Who isn't a fan of the thinking man's orange Tim Fleming?

What a joke...

It's not that Conca (6) was a 'late pick' due to the concessions. The problem is that we took Conca over:
Heppell (8th)
Dion Prestia (9)
Tom Lynch (11)
Brodie Smith (14)
Isaac Smith (19)
Jack Darling (26)

All players we would be MUCH better off with.

Jake Batchelor (30) instead of:
Josh Green (32)
Luke Parker (40) - FRACK

Brad Helbig instead of:
Cameron O'Shea (52)
Alex Johnson (57)

Tom Derickx (63) instead of:
Paul Puopolo (66)
Matt Spangher (73)
Paul Seedsman (76)

So either we just can't develop blokes to save our lives or we can't pick good players any deeper than the top 10 or so picks.

Imagine if we had taken:
Lynch
Parker
Johnson
Puopolo

We would have a genuine KPF, a AA midfielder, a solid half-back flanker and a very serviceable small forward.

It just goes to show if you can get even one draft right, you can turn things around very very quickly. You put a mix of the players we could have taken in stead of who we did take and we could be easily a top four side.
Drafting is by far the most important thing a football department needs to get right to be a good side. It's sound like common sense and yet we still employ a guy that has had way to many misses. I really don't understand how he is still in a job. The RFC has been a middling side at best through his years at the club, how does that not tell people we need to try someone else????

Would have could have should have

That type of analysis is probably on every other footy sides fan forum, it's not hard

A pick a dud on the list
B go through the drafts choices after that until you find a decent player

At least go for something original or that requires some sort of thought process
