Matthew Richardson's ladder predictions for the 2015 AFL season

3AW
    June 17, 2015 - 7:25PM

Matthew Richardson believes Hawthorn and Sydney will face-off for the premiership again this year.

The Richmond great took at look at this season's remaining fixtures to come up with his final ladder after 23 rounds.

He then gave his predictions for the finals.

"You can only come unstuck doing this sort of thing," Richo said with a laugh on Sports Today.

But he gave it a crack anyway...

RICHO'S TOP-EIGHT AT THE END OF THE SEASON

1.    Fremantle (20 wins)
2.    Hawthorn (18 wins)
3.    Sydney (18 wins)
4.    West Coast (15 wins)
5.    Adelaide (14 wins)
6.    Collingwood (13 wins)
7.    Richmond (13 wins)
8.    Geelong (13 wins)

Richo's predicting heartache for fans of North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs.

He expects the two clubs to miss out on finals on percentage alone.

He also discussed the finals fortunes of Fremantle and West Coast, which led former teammate Nathan Brown to make a bold call about the current ladder leader and their biggest rival.

"I reckon West Coast will be better than Fremantle by the end of the year," Brown said on Sports Today.

"I said three weeks ago Fremantle couldn't win it and people bagged me."

I think Richo is spot on with us with 13 wins. With a 7 and 5 record starting tomorrow night with a win. It really shows how crucial those two loses to The Doggies and Melbourne were. I recon it has cost us a top 4 spot. Anyway, as long as we make the finals and have a win I recon that would be a really good result.
Then get Dangerfield in for a real crack it in 2016.

Reckon that there are up to 3 sides that could drop out and 4 sides that could still make it.

GWS are in a similar position to the GC last year, they do have a soft draw but surely must tire as the season goes on
Adelaide are still vulnerable, they do have 6 homes games to come
North have 4 very winnable games coming up as do the Bulldogs.
Geelong and Port are just going to be a threat based on their history.

We really need to win 4 of our next 5 to set up our season.
It's that simple Spud

Just 3 wins out of the last 8 for the Crows and they haven't beaten anyone of note since the Pies way back in round 2. Not the form of a top 8 side at this stage of the year.

GWS looked stuffed without Mumford. As important to the Giants as Ivan is to us in some ways.

We need to win at least one of the next two or we'll be back in the pack at 6-6 fighting for a last spot in the top 8. A win tomorrow night would see us jump up to 6th spot and open up a shot at the top 4 in the upcoming weeks.

GWS
Adelaide
WCE
Pies

all vulnerable imo, think WCE and pies are most likely to just make it, the other 2 are no chance and will be replaced by geelong and port

the only time we have away from the pack was when we were behind it!

Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Bulldogs and Melbourne games may really come back to haunt, even if just missing a top 4 spot. If they can get into some form then I expect Geelong, n0rf and even Port to make a late season charge, most likely at the expense of the Bulldogs but we really can't afford to drop a game we shouldn't.

we just have to keep winning, i reckon the Crows are the ones treading water, Dogs have a draw that should see them in

Last year we had to fight like crazy to get into the 8 and we were stuffed at the end of it, hence the Port flogging.

This year we just need to do our thing, keep winning and perhaps get to a stage where we can rest a couple of payers..

Our Top 8 odds have dropped dramatically after the Sydney win. From $2.10, down to $1.30.

Breaking into the top 4 is going to difficult after Hawthorn's win tonight unless someone in the top 4 chokes in the last third of the season. Freo, Swans, Hawks and Eagles, all with big percentages, are going to tough to shift as we only play the Hawthorn now and can't take anymore points off the others.
