Trade Griffiths to Brisbane for pick 17.
Trade Astbury to Brisbane for pick 21.

Let's face it Griffiths hasn't delivered and will always be behind Vickery from now on, and with McBean coming through he'll struggle to get a game. Also got McKenzie developing.

Griffiths for pick 17
Astbury for pick 21
On trade pick 12 and 17 for pick 5 to Saints who want Carlisle and also a top 12 pick.

Trade pick 21 for Yarran.
Go Tigers!

Thing is, Vickery has had a ton more games and time to develop than Griff.  The club has been patient.  Griff went through some flakey crap, maybe he can turn it around like Vickery.

Drafted one year apart.

Griff has admittedly had some injury concerns.

If there's one thing Griff has on Vickery it's that he's a better aerialist and therefore more useful leading up on the wing.

If curnow falls to pick 12 we gotta get him. Reckon he could be a surprise top 2 pick though

Once the academy players are included, our pick will probably drop to around 15. Callum Twomey on the AFL website has Darcy Tucker at 15. Josh Dunkley, who did his  training at Punt Rd and played a couple of VFL games with us this year is listed at 21. So he's available if he decides to go into the National draft to remain in Victoria rather than go as a Father-Son to the Swans.

21. Josh Dunkley ....... Midfielder     (189cm, 86kg, Gippsland Power, Vic Country)
23. Clayton Oliver ...... Midfielder     (187cm, 86kg, Murray Bushrangers, Vic Country)

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-16/phantom-form-guide-update
Clayton Oliver also involved with us this year. Pick 12 might be a touch early to take him but the kid is a competitive beast.
He kicks both sides & his disposal by hand would be close to elite IMO.
The possibility of physical and mental collapse is now very real. No sympathy for the Devil, keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride.

There we agree. Actually Clayton is going up the charts with a bullet. Some are suggesting top 10 on the back of a spectacular second half of the season.
I think would be a great get at 12.

I would pull the trigger on him at 12 also. Was actually hoping HE was the reason we wanted to hold on to our 1st pick.

Brenton Phillips says plenty of talent to be had at the AFL draft

Anne Mather
Adelaide Advertiser
October 19, 2015

SANFL high performance manager Brenton Phillips has hit back at the draft doomsayers, saying there is plenty of quality to be found in this year’s AFL draft pool.

Former Hawthorn recruiting manager Gary Buckenara claims the 2015 draft crop is thin, with three clear groups — an elite top 10, a quality group from 11-to-30 and then speculative picks from pick 31 at the national draft through to the pre-season and rookie drafts.

But Phillips, SA’s under-18 coach, insists the draft depth is not much different to any other year and that rich pickings are there to be had for clubs who do their homework and spend time developing their young players.

“I come out of the development side of football and you watch 18-year-old young men develop and some develop really quickly and some take a little bit of time,’’ Phillips said after watching 13 SANFL players be put through their paces at the State screening session at Netball SA Stadium.

“If you want to invest a bit of time in finding something you’ll find something pretty special from around pick 60 onwards.

“You’ve got to have good structures in place in football clubs, you’ve got to support and you’ve got to actually bring them along slowly.

“Some will jump out really quickly at you but you’ll also get some diamonds down the bottom.

“If you want to develop properly and let them come at their own rate you will still get some really good footballers.’’

Phillips forecast SA could have 15 players drafted this year, with about 10 to be taken at the national draft — to be held in Adelaide on November 24 — and five in the rookie draft.

He said West Adelaide utility Aaron Francis and Central District midfielder/forward Wayne Milera were SA’s two standouts and likely top-10 picks.

High-leaping North Adelaide forward Ryan Burton is the top-10 wildcard, according to Phillips.

Burton did not play a game this year after badly breaking his leg in a college game last year.

“The one you’ve got to assess is Ryan Burton,’’ Phillips said.

“Everyone is trying to get their head around his injury, what that looks like and how he will develop.

“Clearly his talent is good enough to be in the top 10 of the draft this year so it’s just a matter of determining where he’s at as far as injury is concerned.

“Adelaide last year took a punt with Jake Lever (selected at No. 14 following reconstructive knee surgery) and it paid dividends and I think Ryan is in a similar boat.’’

If Carlton continues to be ridiculously obstinate, then it won't be the end of the world picking up two of these kids in the top 20 with picks 12 & 19. The only other pick we have in the top 80 is pick 52. Dunkley at pick 19 would be familiar to us and virtually ready made to play some AFL games next year having already played against men in our VFL side.
