Our forward line lacks a quality quick and skillful crumbing small forward but we have still shown we can pour on the goals in quarter bursts even against the top sides when we click, use the ball well going forward and kick straight. We blasted Freo, Swans and the Pies away with 7-8 goal quarters. Problem is we don't start with or sustain that intensity and quality over four quarters. Our last three games have produced first halves of 3.5, 3.7 and 4.5. On Friday night, we butchered goalscoring chances by trying to hit that one extra target inside F50. Dusty, for example, had two clear chances to run to 50 under no physical pressure and launch for goal, yet both times he tried to pass it off to a contest where our lone forward was heavily outnumbered. I'd reckon I could count 10 times where we stuffed ourselves up by trying to be too unselfish.
