Champion Data’s Jacob Wilson joined Fox Footy’s Market Watch podcast to provide all of the latest information on the players traded on Friday.
JACOB TOWNSENDGWS youngster Jacob Townsend joined Richmond along with pick 120 in a deal that saw pick 70 head to the Giants.
The 22-year-old only managed one game in 2015, but Wilson provided some of his statistics from the NEAFL that would have undoubtedly attracted the Tigers.
“He’s an inside midfielder, so hopefully he can come in and fix the Tigers’ midfield,” Wilson said.
“In 2014, the Tigers were the third best stoppage team. Last season, they dropped down to 11th.
“They’re bringing in a guy who is a really strong tackler and a really strong clearance player.
“He averaged six clearances and six tackles (per game) in the NEAFL and in 2014 — from his eight games in the AFL — he averaged 7.5 tackles per game.
“Hopefully he can come in and be that big body they need to supplement their midfielders.”
