What the hell is he? 22 years old, been at GWS for 3 years and played one game this year.. :facepalm

Cant get a game at GWS and yet we are apparently a top 4 side and we are looking at this kid... :facepalm :facepalm

Miles......

Thought that when posting the message but not the same really. At 22 he would have shown something by now.
He's not a big fish but think of it like this:

We'd probably get him for absolute peanuts, our 4th or 5th pick. He's probably far more likely than anything we'd grab at that spot in the draft this year.

Hard as nails, had a very solid '14. Admittedly isn't much chop, but was rated higher than Miles (they came from the same NSW academy), so ya never know :shh

Agree but is is hard to tell, so much talent up there you list don't know.
He's a good size and we may have a position other than an inside mid in mind.
As long as he's better than anyone currently in our botom 6 the I don't care

Agree, if he comes cheap say our 3rd round pick which for memory is in the late 40's but could end up early 50's then it's a punt worth taking

did play last game of year and get 22 touches probably put his currency up a bit... Tomilson the one from GWS id take as a backman .

Must remember how hard it is for blokes to get a game in GWS when they have about 40 kids trying for 15 spots  miles struggled know look at him they all need the chance go and get him tigers

Exactly! I think the point with this kid is that he has plenty of potential, has proven he can play at the top level and we'd pick him up for absolute peanuts. Instead of being the 40th bloke in line for development he'd get Choco's ear whenever he needs. I would have absolutely no quams in snaring this guys, the risk v reward and its really a no brainer.

Career stats: http://finalsiren.com/PlayerStats.asp?PlayerID=2208&SeasonID=ALL#ind

Summary

Riverina recruit Jacob Townsend made his AFL debut in Round 1, 2012 and played 11 games for the GIANTS in his first AFL season. Originally from Leeton, Townsend joined the GIANTS under the club’s zoning concessions and has been part of the club since its inauguration in 2010. Townsend was awarded the Coaches Award at the 2012 Kevin Sheedy Medal for his fearless attack on the footy.

2012 Preview:
A hard-nosed utility, Townsend is another latecomer to Australian Football who has a background in rugby union. Hailing from Leeton in southern NSW, he was another player selected in the AIS-AFL Academy and has a bright future.

2013 Preview:
Townsend made a tidy start to his AFL career, featuring in eight games over the first 10 weeks of the season. One of the club's better tacklers, a broken jaw interrupted his promising year before a groin injury ended it. But it was still another step forward for the former rugby union junior, who showed ability at both ends of the ground.

2014 Preview:
The tough youngster appeared in 11 games last season, adding to the 11 from his rookie campaign, as he continued his AFL development. A latecomer to the sport after playing rugby union as a junior in NSW, a calf issue interrupted his year before it was brought to a close by hip surgery.

2015 Preview:
A tough, hard-working midfielder, Townsend made further strides in 2014. Usually given a tagging role, he is a ferocious tackler, and averaged 7.5 a game in his eight senior appearances. Is still learning how to win his own ball to have a greater impact on games, but remains on track to become the hard nut most teams crave.

Averaged 22 p a game...WTF. That was the one game he played, the only game, the last game against the Dees...

I would take him if he's cheap, purely because of his physique and tackling ability. Same with that Brandt fella from WCE. Good size.

We need blokes to replace Tuck/Jackson, which we haven't done at all. Only thing close we've had is Thomas, and IMO he would have been far more serviceable than Griffiths and Conca in the EF.

Happy to get good players or pick up potential role-players for cheap. Doing something is better than nothing and if the draft is shallow this year all the better...
