If he can tackle and they stick, then he is worth looking at because we are the worst tackling side in the AFL

Yeah, but apparently that doesn't matter to some..bloody smashing tackle though :clapping

What the hell is he? 22 years old, been at GWS for 3 years and played one game this year.. :facepalm

Cant get a game at GWS and yet we are apparently a top 4 side and we are looking at this kid... :facepalm :facepalm

Miles......

Thought that when posting the message but not the same really. At 22 he would have shown something by now.
You realise Miles was close to  22 when we got him.  He hadnt done a real lot outside of the odd good game of afl up until then.
The only reason we got Miles was because  he could not dislodge one of the freakin hundreds of first round mids that GWS HAD.   It is no different with Townsend.
I have mentioned this kid on several threads and he is worth going after,  ffs it is worth  at the  least giviing him a go.

How many big hard at it ferocious tacklers do you see on our list, even if he fails he is a type we need to go after. What makes this even better is if he works out we get a decent player for przctically nothing and if he fails we have at the least tried do something towards correcting a hole in the list at little cost..
The last time i looked there were no big hard at it mids up for trade and certainly no big fish who want to come to us.
You know what maybe we should just do away with the draft and any sort of trades unless there is a big fish involved. eff ME DEAD.
Just one question have you even seen this kid play or how about even seen a highlkight reel, do you even know what role he plays.

edited to correct quote, hope I got it right

look...

that all makes heaps of sense, but....

he is not the big fish.

as such he does not satisfy the messiah complex.

nothing else matters

Hmmm... a big bodied inside mid who tackles a lot but doesn't get it much and has average disposal....well I hope we land him, as I'm looking forward to his two senior games a year in the forward pocket....

It certainly seems that way with some.
Im wrapt we are looking at this kid. He not only has talent but he fills a list need. I couldnt care less if he ultimately fails b i think that will happen  he will offer a bit.

Richmond shows interest in GWS midfielder Jacob Townsend

“We have always liked Jacob and have been tracking him for a couple of years and we feel he is a big-bodied, tough mid that we think can help us. He certainly fills a need," Tigers football boss Dan Richardson said on Friday.

“He’s obviously not a big name but we are more about needs than names. We’ve had some positive discussions.”

Townsend is out of contract and likely to cost the Tigers a third-round pick at next month’s draft.

I know nothing about this kid but is he just another Nathan Gordon type?
To be totally honest from the little bit I have read about him, I think he is.
No real weapon by the sound of it. Tackling isn't even close to enough at this level.
"Big bodied mid" at 186cm he isn't big. Take a look at Cripps, Barlow, Mundy, Fyfe......

We need guys that are going to push players like Grigg, Houli, Chaplin, Hunt out of the side. Not players that might be simular to these types.

I'd rather take an unknown kid in the draft that potentially may become an upgrade of those "recycled" players I mention. They have all played a roll but it's time to upgrade everyone of them....and some.

he wont upgrade on all of them, but maybe 9 or 10 of them?

And how good is FJ at getting the unknown kid with potential?
