No thanks.
Strange comment from you claw. Why? Because Moore is everything you say we should look at to upgrade our bottom 6 on our list.

You always say that we should look at big bodied type players playing well in the state leagues but not getting many chances in the AFL.  Well guess what? Former number 9 pick and highly rated junior who has been one of the best players consistently in the SANFL. 190cm and 90 kg and can play in many different positions.  Sure he won't turn the world upside down but according to all your preachings over the years we should look at him.

Why the turn around in philosophy?
Simple i dont back in players i dont think can are any good .And that is it  I dont think he is any good or has much improvement left in him so why would i advocate we look at him.
No change in philosophy at all im allowed to not like players arent i ? even if they are big bodied and have done alright in the twos.
Yep im all for the bigger bodied players who show they have the attributes to play afl both physically and skill wise.  Just because i dont like a player it does not mean that criteria has gone out the window.
Go for the blokes who have not had a real chance at the level. Moore has had 6 years and more opportunity than most.Townsend fits the criteria to a tee despite being on an afl list.

After only a quick glance I could already see at least half a dozen names there that would be better DFA options than Kelvin 2.0 Midfield Edition.

Tigers get Andrew Moore, and don't need more

Jake Niall
The Age
October 29, 2015

In the coming days, the Tigers are expected to announce they have signed delisted free agent Andrew Moore on a modest one-year contract.

As a strong 189-centimetre midfielder, Moore fits Richmond's needs – anyone who watched the Tigers succumb to North in September could see their need for size and grunt around the ball, for someone to provide a chaperone for Trent Cotchin and Brett Deledio.

But as a castaway from Port Adelaide, Moore, pick No.9 in the 2009 national draft, doesn't fit the expectations of those who believed the Tigers needed a big-ticket item in addition to Chris Yarran.

Moore would bring the Richmond post-season haul to three players from other clubs, Yarran having landed safely at Punt Road after a game of trading-deadline chicken between the Tigers and Blues. Jacob Townsend, another sturdy midfielder who struggled for opportunities, was acquired from Greater Western Sydney in exchange for a late pick.

In normal circumstances, picking up Yarran and another pair of cheap, speculative midfielders would be viewed as a fair result, with potential to be better than that in the event that Yarran knuckles down and if Moore or Townsend is successfully recycled in the manner of Anthony Miles, Shaun Grigg and Bachar Houli. Richmond's situation, alas, can't be classified as "normal" because the Tigers have the highest expectations – based on pent-up demand built over three decades – of any Victorian club. They were meant to win a final. They couldn't. They were meant to land Adam Treloar. They didn't.

They flirted with Harley Bennell, an A-grade talent with Z-grade baggage, before deciding discretion was the better part of valour and leaving him to the Dockers.

If the failure to secure another "name" made them less sexy than Geelong or Collingwood, the upshot was the Tigers acted with restraint. While some of this restraint was forced by Treloar's decision to choose another club, there were plenty of observers who expected Richmond to be desperate and dateless, offering pick 12 for anyone they thought might help win an extra game. At the close of trading, they'd secured Yarran and kept pick 12.

Far from representing a trading loss, the Tigers had succeeded in a) recruiting a proven 24-year-old  of considerable talent who can improve their team and b) retaining their first draft pick. This is not as easy as it sounds. Richmond kept their recruiting within a needs-based framework, rather than lashing out opportunistically – which is never wise.

The external – and even internal – pressure on Richmond to secure another player of substance (not Jake Carlisle) was considerable. Yet, in reality, their need for a trophy recruit was no greater than, say, the Bulldogs.

Richmond's playing list is relatively young for a team that made finals. Deledio, 29 next year, is their oldest elite player and is in near-showroom condition. Time's winged chariot isn't hurrying near Tigerland. They can see how 2016 unfolds and, if there's the right player, have another crack.

It should be noted, too, that no premiership has yet been delivered by the arrival of a million-dollar baby. The biggest names who have helped deliver the grail over the past dozen years are probably Shaun Burgoyne and Brad Ottens.  Hawthorn's success has been in locating players who filled particular roles, such as Josh Gibson, Jack Gunston and Brian Lake.

Whatever Richmond wanted and couldn't get, their post-season could  follow the plan set out by the Rolling Stones: you get what you need.

Jacob Ballard from Fremantle would be a better choice - same size but younger and with far more upside....too bad Moneyblair can't see past stuffing Alberton....

Still the same amount of spots that need to be filled....there's plenty of better players available out there than Moore....Moneyblair looks through Black, White & Teal coloured glasses...

It's still going to deliver a hypothetical player at best.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

He needs better glasses if he thinks a plodder like Moore will be a good pick up.

he will contribute more than our last pick in the draft called 'pass'
Our last pick is currently 120 that will be used to upgrade Lambert.
Our next to last pick is currently 106 that will be used on Moore apparently on just a one year deal. I suppose no one can complain about cost.

Im with Diocletian when he says hes been a plodder. I have already said why i would rather we look elsewhere but to be fair some reasons why we maybe should look at him.

Still only 24 and as such should still have some upside.
Comes with good pedigree originally a top 10 pick which suggests as a junior he was a top echelon player with obvious talent.
At 189/87 he is a good size
His best season was 2013. It was servicable imo and it coincided with him playing the inside mid role that the club has him eyeballed for..
He has had his share of injuries osteitis pubis comes to mind with his fair share of niggles.Hence a legit reason why performances could be down a bit.
He has performed really well in the sanfl.
Has really good attributes in his leap and marking for his size. hence why he was a fwd/utility when drafted. As a junior he could find a bit of ball as well.

As YellowandBlackBlood said to me, he ticks quite a few boxes.Big bodied player doing well in the state leagues, i think he has had plenty of opportunities to show what he can do at afl level though.
As stated i dont rate him, well not so much that but dislike aspects of his game and dont see a lot of upside to him and think he has had 6 yrs to show what he can do.
Any way some positives and reasons why they are taking him. Heres hoping he can improve and perform a role for us.

Andrew Moore

Age: 24
Club: Port Adelaide (2010-2015)
Games: 55

2015 summary: Just five senior games but was very good in the SANFL. Frustrated with lack of opportunity.

Pros: Good inside midfielder who has performed well in big games and is entering his prime.

Cons: Disposal lets him down at times and he can drift in and out of games.

Would suit: Richmond
