Fevola to stay at Carlton

By Jake Niall
October 7, 2005

The Tigers have come to terms on a trade for Western Bulldog Patrick Bowden, who will be reunited with his brother Joel at Punt Road. In the deal, the clubs will exchange fourth-round draft picks (the Bulldogs moving from 59 to 56) and the Dogs will pay a small amount of Bowden's modest contract.

Patrick Bowden could yet cross from the Western Bulldogs to join brother Joel at Richmond. It is understood the Dogs and Tigers were last night close to a deal that would involve the exchange of late draft picks.

Bowden has one year of a deal to run at the Dogs and may be offered a one-year extension by the Tigers.

The Tigers and Dogs also haggled over a deal on Bowden at this time last year.

That is so true John ;D. We most likely won't be using our 4th pick anyway so we'll get him for nothing.

I don't know why we are chasing after these fringe/VFL players. Sheesh we might even be considering extending his contract to 2 years! Madness!  :banghead

Didn't we learn our lesson giving VFL players like Morrison 2-year deals to come to Tigerland  :help  >:(.

Good luck to Bowden.  I hope he turns it around like his brother.

He is going to cost us sweet fa, and lets face it, can probably do a lot better than the likes of Archibald.

Wallace knows how to get the best out of Pat.

He is 25?

Not sure about extending his one year bulldogs contract though.  Give him one to prove himself

patrick is no dud. i guessed this would happen. he wanted to come to tigerland last yr but after a pretty good 2004 eade would not let him go, likewise with gilbee at the time. imo patrick tanked 2005 to get eade off side and want to release him. he has talent thats why terry wallace chased him last yr. he is no dud and like his bro can play fwd and back. he is very much a right footed joel and i think he will be a find 4 us next yr, means tiv will spend all his last season in the vfl!

Richmond has completed a trade to get Patrick Bowden - the younger brother of Tigers stalwart Joel Bowden - from the Whitten Oval to Punt Road.

In the first completed trade on the final day of the five-day AFL trading period, the Tigers have swapped their fourth round selection (No.56 overall) to the Dogs for the 24-year-old.

The younger Bowden made his debut for the Bulldogs in 2001 after being picked up with the No.58 selection at the 1999 NAB AFL Draft. He has 50 matches for the Bulldogs in five seasons.

A promising forward, Patrick Bowden has steadily developed and played 19 games and kicked 27 goals in 2004. But he only managed eight games this season, despite picking up more than 20 possessions in each of the first two rounds.

His older brother, 27-year-old Joel Bowden, has played 192 matches for the Tigers since 1996. He won the club's best-and-fairest award in 2004.

I'm not unhappy with this either, this could be a good get, HE WANTS TO PLAY FOR US. Which makes a big difference to attitude. He'll have a good year  :thumbsup

Close but no cigar ;D

Going by what's being reported we only got the player - no pick to the Tigers just young Patrick.  :rollin

He was horrible in that VFL grand final!

I'm hoping that a new club and being reunited with his former coach and his brother helps him perform!

Well I am happy with that outcome, as I think that with our young list, three from this years draft would be suffucient to maintain the continuity.
He is in the right age bracket for our list and I hope as would his knockers also hope that he makes them eat their words
