Craig McRae to coach Tigers’ VFL team
« on: October 15, 2015, 05:42:55 PM »
Richmond has appointed Craig McRae as its VFL coach for 2016.

After leaving Richmond, he had one year back with the Lions as a development coach, before joining Collingwood as development manager.

He enhanced his reputation for cultivating young football talent throughout a five-year stint with the Magpies, winning the AFL Coaches Association’s inaugural Development Coach of the Year Award in 2014.  This award recognises outstanding commitment, service and innovation in developing and preparing young players for AFL football.

McRae, who also is a qualified school teacher, finished at Collingwood at the end of the 2015 season, and Richmond is delighted to have someone of his football experience and expertise overseeing its VFL program, as a replacement for Tim Clarke, who has joined Carlton as an assistant coach.

Spoke to him many years ago when he was with us. Said he had aspirations to be a senior coach back then. Said he came to Richmond to learn tactical match day stuff from Wallace. Seemed like an intelligent and nice person.
I would say he'd be an upgrade on Tim Clarke (will due respect to Tim).

Good decision RFC. :clapping
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

So he arrived at the wobbles after they won the premiership in 2010.
They finished:

2010 Premiers

McCrae arrives as Head of developement.

2011: finished top lost GF.
2012: finished 4th lost PF.
2013: finished 6th lost EF.
2014: finished 11th
2015: finished 12th

It seems like he had a real impact in his last job.

 :facepalm

ALso, Craig was getting bagged by a few of the coteries 6 years back when he took over from Rawlo and the VFL side went to crap. Wonder if they are happy about this. Actually who cares

So how much does he do with the firsts? Will he get involved at all in game day?
