sad state of affairs is our membership. Were basically scrumming to get 30k and the pies are now officially chasing 50k.

When you consider our lack of success over the last 25 years I reckon our membership numbers especially in the last couple of years have been OK - not great but OK. If we get 30k members for 2006 we are well on our way to building towards 40+k. I mean let's be honest people want some sort of value for money and the footy played in years 2003-2004 wasn't exactly exciting.  :banghead In 2005 we saw that things are different (style of play etc) and because of that I reckon our figures in 2006 will improve

As for the Pies - let's see what their figures are like in 2006 after their stellar 2005 ;D

If we could get together a good side, Richmond could double its membership base. Ive always said We have the ability to get 50-60,000 members. I think actually I put up a thread about this a fair while back.

10,248 ticketed

We're still ahead off previous years at this time of year

9/12/03 - 8,810
7/12/04 - 9,570

Hopefully with a few good years on-field we can bypass the Cats and Saints and the bandwagon that's got behind them the last couple of years.

Other clubs' membership numbers. The poor old Hawkers aren't doing too well.

Essendon 15,737
St Kilda   13,000
Geelong  12,211
Hawthorn  5,000

the other clubs combine their ticketed and non ticketed members in their figures, so i guess to compare it goes like this

St Kilda   13,000
Richmond  12,958
Geelong  12,211
Hawthorn  5,000

Perhaps the Hawks aren't allowed anymore to include pets as ticketed members lol.

My understanding is when CLubs submit thier membership numbers to the AFL they must give Ticketed and non-ticketed member totals.

I still think 10k+ ticketed is a top result so far, coupled with that I reckon the move back to the new Northern stand and people wanting seats there has helped the figure too

Richmond is on target to break its pre-Christmas membership record . . .

The Tigers set their record of 12,320 ticketed members by Christmas 2004, but believe they can top that figure 12 months on.

At close of business yesterday (Wednesday, December 14), the Club had signed 11,089 ticketed members and 2975 non-ticketed members.

“It is pleasing to see how well we’ve advanced with membership sales leading into the Christmas period. And, it highlights what a great response we’ve had from our loyal members to our ‘Feel the Tribal Fever’ campaign,” said Richmond’s General Manager, Consumer Marketing, Trent Jacobs.

“Another very promising sign for us is the reserved-seating take-up. We are approximately 1000 seat sales ahead of this time last year, which is a fair indication of just how quick our members have been to snap up seats in the new Olympic Stand at the MCG, as well as the top seats on offer in the Great Southern Stand.

“The good thing for those supporters yet to buy their memberships is that there are still plenty of excellent seats available to watch the Tigers in action during 2006.”

Jacobs praised the efforts of the Club’s membership staff in managing the move of more than 5000 Tiger seat holders back into the new Olympic Stand for the ’06 season.

“There are always a few small problems that arise along the way, but on the whole, this transition has been very smooth. The servicing has been outstanding, and we continue to get a great deal of positive feedback from our members,” he said.

“In relation to fulfillment delivery, we always strive as hard as we can to deliver fulfillment pre-Christmas. Unfortunately this year, due to small issues that have arisen overseas which have been out of our control, the majority of our fulfillment will be delivered just after Christmas.

“However, for those members using membership kits as Christmas gifts, the membership staff will be happy to forward out certificates, so they can be presented for Christmas.

“We certainly thank our members for their on-going commitment to the Club in signing up before Christmas, and we look forward to a boom response membership-wise early next year.”

We're about a 1000 ahead on the same time last year so it does seem the Olympic stand has caused an early rush. If we could stay a 100 ahead then we would break the 30,000 barrier.

As for when it arrives. I don't mind when it comes (although the earlier the better) as long as I get it before the season starts. The last couple of years when its arrived about a month after I've rejoined has been out of the norm.

The RFC site has updated the figures but not the date  ???

As at 14/12/05:

Ticketed: 12,038

Non-ticketed: 3,246

Combined: 15,284

Here's the figures prior to Christmas for the previous two years:

2004:  12,114  @ 24/12
