We’ll never get the visibility but I’d really be interested to see how we are spending 95% of total cap next year. That’s baker, dusty, graham and if the above is to be believed Riolis wages coming off the books without any established player coming in. Not to mention Boltons who will also atleast partially be cleared.

Leaves plenty of room for Bailey Smith who I haven’t heard any movement on with 1 day to go…..

Get front end a few other contracts like Hopper, Taranto and Balta. Frees up space in 2027/28 for some free agency currency
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Like the idea of Bailey Smith but he is not talking to anyone but Geelong and is not doing a medical by all reports for any other interested clubs.

He needs to pick us and we would need to do due diligence as it would costv us a pick inside 17..

This is huge shithousery by Geelong. Absolute pack of assholes.

Hope Giants pick him up. Or they trade 16 to someone who will. Wonder if GC would roll dice on him, reckon they would.

Why blame Geelong, so they're playing hardball? We're doing the same with Rioli and Bolton to a degree

Put some your frustration on the player he's no innocent bystander here

Absolutely so it's Smith, but feeling isn't innocent here the Cotton on contracts are against rules down there and this is taking the pee and AFL should investigate.

THIS.

the clubs have all bent over though WP. We will be no different when we eventually cave in.

Players have total control and clubs are all fos saying we will hold this guy and that guy to their contract. Total BS

Agree with this Ramps, but in terms of clubs there is no other club that fleece other clubs like Geelong do. When was the last time they paid overs for anyone?

Fleeces GWS for Jeremy Cameron for picks 13 and 15 (no top ten for what every media says the best player in the comp).
Fleeces Crows for Dangerfield at the time best player in comp or just abouts for picks 9 and 28
Bailey Smith for Pick 17 whether they trade or they draft him at 17 is ridiculous for a top 10 pick 5 years ago who is a star of the comp.

Players hold all the control absolutely but Geelong have worked out how to snatch top talent by taking advantage of the player power wanting to move to Geelong and nowhere else and then pay unders every time.

Daniel Rioli deal now being lodged. Suns will receive picks 51, 61, 70 and 76 and Rioli in exchange for picks 6 and 23. Deal now done.

This turns out to effectively be pick 6 and 43 on points - with points being important in the Suns' case given Leo Lombard is coming through for an early bid. That will also come in on draft night as Suns get their man.

It's official.

Rioli gets Suns move, Tigers now with EIGHT top picks

By staff writers
Just now
16 Oct 2024

GOLD Coast has completed a trade for Richmond defender Daniel Rioli, reuniting the half-back with coach Damien Hardwick.

Rioli has joined the Suns in exchange for picks six and 23, while the Suns will get four late picks - 51, 61, 70 and 76 - back from the Tigers.

The move further bolsters the Tigers' draft hand, with Richmond now holding eight of the first 24 picks in this year's draft - 1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23 and 24 in this year's draft.

We’ve made off like bandits in this trade imo. Just don’t think a half back flanker is ever worth a top10 pick let alone 23 to go with it. Said the same thing when Carlton traded pick 7 to the bombers for Saad.

In saying that, it’s not like it makes any difference to the suns who would have had those picks swallowed up matching the Lombard bud anyway.
