Richmond defender Nathan Broad will extend his time at the Club, putting pen to paper on a new contract until the end of 2026.
Broad, 31, had been already signed up until the end of next season, with the fresh extension locking him away for a second year.
The versatile defender has been in fantastic form for the Tigers, including a career-high 27 disposals against Collingwood in Round 21.
Broad ranks #2 at Richmond for Marks and #3 for Intercepts and Disposal Efficiency while playing a reliable defensive role on dangerous opposition forwards.
At 192cm and with strong aerial ability, Broad can play on tall opponents, with his running ability and athleticism also allowing him to shut down dangerous smalls.
The West Australian, who could finish in the top 10 of the Jack Dyer Medal for a third straight season at the end of the year, has played 145 matches for the Tigers.
Broad’s durability has been a feature of his game. He has only missed one match through injury since the end of 2021.
Richmond General Manager, Football Talent- Blair Hartley said Broad’s leadership, versatility and reliability was important to the group.
“Nathan has become an excellent leader at our football club and has been a consistent performer for us for a long period,” he said.
“He sets high standards, is hard working, brings great energy to his teammates and is a player that the boys love playing with each week.
“We are delighted that he has committed for another year and look forward to seeing him continue to contribute at a high level for the coming seasons.”
Broad, who was drafted as a 22-year-old mature recruit, having played some WAFL Reserves football the year prior, will enter an 11th season at the Club through the extension.
