Speaking on Fox Footy’s AFL 360, Hardwick said it was tough to face the prospect of losing Chol, but suggested it might be the best move for him.

“Mabs has been a friend of ours, my family, and started his journey six years ago. But he’s got a fantastic opportunity, four years up at Gold Coast – and I think he’s only scratching the surface of what he could become,” Hardwick told AFL 360.

“He’s looking forward to the change and I think, in fairness, he probably needs a change as well. But he can be a talent, that lad.”

Unrestricted free agent Mabior Chol's switch from Richmond to Gold Coast could land the Tigers a third-round pick given he's 24 and younger than a typical free agent. The ruck/forward was delisted by the Tigers at the end of 2018, handing him 'free agency for life' status.
