First off he played all 22 h&a games, as a 17 & 18 yo, now his going to play in the IR series, and then get thrown into the pre-season at the end of october.

I really hope the club gives Lids a couple of extra weeks off, and have a training plan in place for him so he doesn't develop OP in the off-season, thats if his not already developing it.

The last thing we need is Lids getting OP simply because we asked him to do too much to early.

I could be wrong but I think the IR guys do get a couple of extra weeks off  as the IR series and training occurs during their alloted 8 week end of season break.

Getting back to your question Razor - Yeah I hope we are not burning him out. Seeing the words "groin soreness" makes you edgy :-\.

Lids has a 10-15 year footy career ahead of him so while it's a credit to him and great for the Club and us supporters to have him playing for Oz, I'd prefer if we weren't trying to pack everything into his first year. Not only do players need a physical break they also need a mental one. It's been non-stop for Lids since the day he was drafted - played the full season including preseason games, wins rising star, GF sprint winner and now playing for Oz. An unbelievable debut year :bow.

Just to be different  ;D

YES!!!

I have no interest in this IR series and would quite happy if it didn't happen.

Last thing you want is for a bloke to get injured playing a "fluff" game  >:(

wp, i value ur opinion, but i dont really care whether its a fluff game or not, its a game that represents our country, afl footy at this stage dosnt allow this, so this hybrid game is all footy players can do in order to wear the green and gold!

its not afl, buts its close enough. imo

Hey X-Cited, as a personal trainer, I am interested to hear why you think it's OK that Deledio has such a huge workload in his first year.....

I like the international rules myself but I am a bit worried that he is doing too much. What if he ends up with OP out of this groin soreness.

training for this game and series , will just keep his fitness up and condition his body to go harder and longer. his fitness levels will increase and his mental attitude will become stronger,

with op, if he is gonna get it, he will get it whether he playes this series or not. and op, is directly related with ur running action/gate. from what i see with lids , he runs liek a true athlete, he just glides across the tuf and has a very smooth running action. ala judd.

he runs totally different to say cogs.

now when ur young your body can recover alot quicker than when u get older, this will be good 4 him

u cant put a value on experience, its too important

this ir series will put him way ahead of his peers in experience, he will only gain from it

Green & Gold - eh? The Aussie wear predominantly Blue with a green & gold Vee (can someone explain that one to me)

Maybe that's why I am not that interested in it X, not enough Green & Gold for me!  ;D :rollin

X, doesn't this sharp jump in physical activity (comparing all that his done in 2005 to his 2004 TAC Cup season) raise the chances of him developing muscle injuries down the track?

not really, not if his preparation is spot on, u can develop muscular injuries at training and even just going 4 a jog.
he has been through a full season and his body coped well, if he wasnt ready 4 this, terry would not have given the blessing. this kid is a stayer dont worry

thats true wp! why the hell do they wear that blue guernsey with and green and yellow!

thats right they do because the green clashes with the irish, but then again, why dont we just wear a yellow top with a green v ???

Seeing both team have the same national colours (or at least both have green) - why doesn't the home team get to wear the Green and whatever other colour and the away team something else (like the Aussie do with the blue) ???

I would think that would be fair :thumbsup

Oh ok, i just worry that, for example, his hammy's might start going off, like Tambo's did this year!
