The general consensus seems to be that a number of other players should be in this round 1 side. In addition to our injury situation it does show that we are developing more competition for spots which can only be a good thing moving forward.

Hardwick should have little excuse to keep under performers in the side. Alternatively should some of the younger brigade perform above expectations then with players still to return after injury we should become a much stronger unit overall.

The only fit players that have been nominated thus far are

Lennon.  Who is stiff (again)

And bachelor. Which is a terrible suggestion

The selection of Morris does not surprise me
Training extremely well

it may surprise some, but comparing the ages of the 22 that's named for the two sides, we are actually about 1 year younger on average compared with carlton (24.4 vs 25.6)

But apparently  we are 50% "below afl standard"

How are the Menadue c Ellis Mcintosh supposed to improve, or get the the standard unless they play #claw
if youd taken any notice of the great sage, then youd know that it is years in the system that brings improvement. all they need to do is sit in the medical room and the improvement will come as time goes on.

So are my ways higher than your ways,

Astbury > Chaplin
LOL. I dont think so, but even if he was its Marginal. We are actually  debating who is the bigger hack not who is the better player.

IMO Astbury is getting a go ahead of Chaplin because Carlton's forward line is young, and TBH I'm happy to see Chaplin losing/fighting for his spot. Honestly I'd be happy for Elton to get a crack ahead of Chaplin too - bloke needs a shot and Chaplin is in his last year of 'serviceable' footy I reckon.

Also nice to see Hunt get pushed out. Depth player at best.

Great to see C Ellis and Menadue playing.

Lids, Yarran, Lennon and Maric (our ruck sitch is so F'd) are missing from our best lineup. You would think Morris, Lloyd, Lambert (stiff) and Hampson will make way for those 4 eventually...

Can tell Lloyd is probably 33% fitter than Lennon as this stage
No surprise to see Lloyd get a game and being rewarded for a hard pre season
Has earned his spot

So are you suggesting that it's training form rather than how they've actually performed in NAB games is and should be the main criteria for selection for round 1  :huh

LLoyd & Morris (throw in Astbury too) may have been training brilliantly but their NAB form wasn't great

Is that the reason he wasn't selected?

Morris and Lloyd. Making same mistakes year in year out.

Kidding ourselves. Hate negative people but bloody hell. Lennon surely plays.

Don't mind Rioli, yeah he's off the pace but I don't mind blooding untried talent. If Morris and Lloyd are genuinely in best 22 we have again failed in the off season.

Heard he is 33.54% fitter.
