Continued his really good form at VFL level. He played a little on the wing this week, we’re looking to add another string to his bow and he was clearly one of our best players.
Taylor Hunt25 disposals, 18 uncontested possessions, six marks, 11 handball receives
Continues to work hard. His workrate off the ball and ability to turn the footy over in defence is a real standout. We just need him to have better ball use with ball in hand to capitalise on the opportunities he has.
Andrew Moore21 disposals, six clearances, three tackles, ten contested possessions
Played as an inside-mid and had six clearances but we just need him to play like a big-strong on-baller we know he’s capable of. He’s not far away from really tearing a game apart at this level.
Nathan Broad18 disposals, six marks, five contested marks, 10 uncontested possessions
Played his best game as a defender for us, started on the wing, but went back and had significant impact for us. His six marks was a team-high for us on the day with his contested marking and rebounding a stand-out and was a really good contributor.
Dave Astbury15 disposals, seven contested possessions, four marks
Came back to the VFL and played as a key-back. He was a strong competitor in the air, but choosing between marking and spoiling and killing contests are decisions he needs to get right. He was a solid contributor.
Dan Butler15 disposals, 11 tackles, nine handball receives, one goal
He bounced back to some good form, 15 disposals and 11 tackles as a small-forward are good numbers and kicked a goal. Just getting a balance between his work inside-50 and outside-50 is something he's working on.
Jacob Townsend13 disposals, six tackles, 11 uncontested possessions
An inside-mid and strong at the contest but we need to see more of the strengths he has. His seven free-kicks against is a balance he needs to find between hardness at the ball and the man and something he needs to really work on.
Oleg Markov11 disposals, four tackles, three inside-50s
Played as a forward to start with, we wanted to see him play in a different role. He had minimal impact so we moved him to a wing and half-back. His contest stuff was good and he’s got some real upside for us.
Callum Moore11 disposals, six marks, four hardball gets
Started as a back and after half-time we moved him forward to provide a bit of spark in the forward-line. He continues to jump at the ball and show some real athletic qualities. We’ll continue down that path with him.
Ivan Maric36 hit-outs, four clearances, four tackles, nine disposals
Returned from AFL opportunity, came back and dominated hit-outs, had four clearances himself, but only the nine disposals. We need his big-strong leadership to make other players stand taller.
Liam McBeanOne goal, nine disposals, three marks
Struggled on the day. He had limited opportunity early, but his connection with the other forwards was poor. We need a stronger four-quarter contribution from him.
Ben LennonSix disposals, one goal
Unfortunately had another head-clash in the second quarter and failed to return in the second half. That’s two (head-clashes) in his last two games which is concerning.
Mabior CholFive disposals, three tackles
He was inconsistent in his effort and intensity and we need more four-quarter consistency in that area from him, he had minimal impact.
VFL-listedTom Couch24 disposals, nine clearances, 15 contested possessions, four tackles
Continues his really good form. He’s so strong at the contest, his nine clearances and 24 disposals, he looks like one of the few guys that can break-out of stoppages and impact the game for us.
Sam Darley22 disposals, 17 uncontested possessions, 12 handball receives
Showed great leadership again. There were a couple of occasions where he was sagging back in play when we want him to squeeze up the ground and be part of our team defence, but other than that he’s going really strongly.
Tom Langford19 disposals, ten handball receives, three tackles
Returned from a hamstring injury in round 1. He started a bit slowly against his old team, but as the game wore on he really looked like he was important for us with his ball-use off half-back.
Nick Mellington17 disposals, 13 contested possessions, four clearances, five tackles
Played as an inside-mid and came in and out of the game. His contested work is as good as we have, he had 13 of those (contested possessions), but we just need some more spread around the ground for four quarters.
Jacob Ballard13 disposals, nine tackles, three clearances
Played his first game for the year with limited game time. His enormous work-rate and GPS really stands-out and we we’re looking forward to him playing four quarters. It was a good start to his Richmond VFL career.
Tom SilvestroTen disposals, four tackles, three inside-50s, one goal
The hardest worker we have on the ground, was our 23rd player and now playing in the team on his own right. The balance between how much work he does defensively and offensively is what he’s trying to work on.
Anthony Forato17 hit-outs, one goal, eight disposals
Playing as a second ruck at the moment, and we really like his contest. He was a good back-up for Ivan and had 17 hit-outs.
Ryan GaleEight disposals, two marks
A key-defender, he started well with two intercept marks and just playing his role. A solid game from him.
Anthony ScottOne goal, seven disposals, three marks, three tackles
A small-forward, he had minimal impact on the day. He managed to kick a goal from a crumbing opportunity, but lacked real urgency and intensity to get back inside-50 and lock it in that area for us.
Daniel CoffieldFive disposals, three marks, one contested mark
Our 23rd player started really well with his intercept marking and is playing his role. He just trying to get that balance when he has the footy in capitalising on the touches he does have.
