Interested to hear the reasoning behind why anyone in their right mind would part with a pick as early as 8 for a small who has been average by foot
for most of this season.
2 years ago looked like he could be a real good type but lately,meh.

because even top 10 picks have a 45% odd chance of being a bust, based on playing 100 games with the club that drafted him.

So your greatly valued pick has basically a 55% chance of getting a player as good as the player you are trading for, and even less chance of being a better player.
It will most probably also be 3 or 4 years at least before your draftee has any real impact, if he does at all.

when you trade a pick for a player you don't take into consideration the likelihood of matching or bettering that player at the draft table?

Because Prestia is a proven good-very good player who is entering his prime. Pick 8 is an unknown player who will need time to develop.

simple line of logic.

if you cant follow it, doesn't mean its trolling.

to determine if a player is worth a pick, you have to be able to put a value on the pick, surely?

how else do you do that besides the likely hood of that pick netting an equivalent or better player?

and that line of thinking is below par, according to you?

Cause to get Prestia you'd have to trade a draft pick

Hence the draft and prestias value is directly related
