Anyone for the Jaeger bomb?

If that knee was ok, I'd give pick 6 and BEllis and Edwards in a heart beat. But is it ok?
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Hardly a "bombshell" - has been suspected all year.

They'll play hardball, I'd say two first rounders would do it.

Gold Coast SUNS Chairman Tony Cochrane has today released the following statement:

After five years and 44 games Jaeger O'Meara has notified the club he wishes to find a new home interstate in 2017.

The club traded two first round selections to the GWS Giants to secure Jaeger as a 17-year-old, spent 12 months developing him prior to him being eligible to make his AFL debut, saw him impress on-the field in his first two seasons and have then spent the last two seasons investing time and resources into rehabilitating his knee following multiple surgeries with the club's utmost support.

As Jaeger doesn't qualify as a Free Agent, AFL rules dictate he holds no rights to determine his destination of choice.

With that being the case, Jaeger is on the market to a club that can provide us compensation we are prepared to accept.

Should an appropriate exchange not be met he will have the option to enter the draft.

It's the right time for the club to make a stance. And we do so for the sake of our current players, supporters, partners and the thousands of junior AFL participants who are building the foundation of this club.

According to Michael Felgate on Ch 7 news:

"North, Hawthorn & St Kilda in the mix to sign O'Meara."

Sounds like he is only basing that on who he thinks has salary cap room.

Hope he walks to Essendon in the PSD - his knees are gone and it will stuff two clubs I hate.

Just stating what he said.

His excuse for North being one of the clubs in the mix was that their cull yesterday would've freed up salary cap space. So he's guessing basically.

I'd risk it, even if he had no legs he'd be better than some of the strugglers we've seen put in our best 22.
The possibility of physical and mental collapse is now very real. No sympathy for the Devil, keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride.

Anyone over 30 only has half their income counted towards the cap though right?

Didn't the AFL axe the veteren's list a couple of years ago..?..I seem to recall there were a few rumblings because it was while Newman was eligible and Deledio getting nearer to it and the usual "timed the rule change to screw over RFC again" conspiracy theories surfaced (mainly from smasha on BF).....also I think it only applied if the player had been at the same club for at least 10 years or something like that...

Just did some reading up on it, they're getting rid of the current vets allowances from next year - which I think was a diluted version of the one I was talking about.

No wonder Norf have to get rid of all those blokes. Costing a premium now.

A few recruiters said that too about Joel Selwood before he was drafted.
Losing count at how many premiership medallions ole dodgy knees Shaun Burgoyne has these days but he's still going for more.

Talented players are hard to find. I'd want the club to really dig around and get the full story before we bite, I don't want another Yarran affair or even a Chris Knights. If he is really fit then I'd take him.
