Fair point, might have something to do with scapegoating them for all that went wrong.  Maybe they feel guilty about it LOL.

Not only offered new deals, but openly encouraged to look for other jobs as well. Only at Richmond would they give someone a contract and not demand/expect commitment

Devil's advocate time

Under the coaches association agreement clubs had to tell assistants if they were being kept or if they could look at "other opportunities" by 1 August

Both of the blokes offered new deals but only 12 months with one facing a demotion. the other having been approached by another club

Think about it

1 year -v- the possibility of a longer deal somewhere else... hmmm which would you chose?

the other  offered 12 months in reduced role (read demotion)...

No guarantee either will stay

So, in the meantime what?
The club searches for more assistants, only to tell them,

"Yeh look, were interested in you but need to wait until our current employees decide
To stay or go"
Caracella and Balmey.

Was only referring to the one who has been offered a year in the same role. Didn't know the other was offered a contract already I thought it was speculation that he'd get a reduced role if he stayed. As you said, the rule is they have to inform them about a contract for next year OR tell them they can look for work because they aren't guaranteed. Why would the RFC do both, it's absurd. To say "1 year v longer...which would you choose" is a cop out. It's obvious what you'd pick and that's my point. You either want him or you don't but Richmond decided to give him the best of both worlds.

Ive heard Montgomery, Yze, Knights and Caracella (though i don't think we will get all of them)  Aker has been spotted in a tigers shirt, and apparently we have interviewed Voss a few times.

Lets see

Senior coach: Damien Hardwick
Senior Assistant: Brett Montgomery
Development coach: Yze? (I think thats his rle at hawthorn not sure)
Midfield coach: Matty Knigts
Forwards coach: Blake Caracella
Defenders coach: Ben Rutten

Looks better already, I like the idea of Montgomery because he seems like a no nonsense bloke that this club needs, both for the player and to challenge Hardwick.

It doesn't look like Hardwick will be gone (although i was hoping) But i think that things can change with support around him.  We need to remember the modern game has changed, assistants have much more important role than they used to.  They actually do most the coaching, the senior coach oversees everything.

I like the idea of Aker, he is smart and arrogant in a way that shows confidence and belief something lacking in many of our players.  Let's hope the introverted weirdo's running the joint don't get startled like starlings at the prospect of an extrovert coming into the club.

Agree with alot of what you have said here

I suggested Montgomery a few weeks ago on another thread when i heard he had left the Doggies.

Thing other for me is if they get Montgomery in as a senior assistant, then this clearly either dilutes Lade's influence or probably more to the point results  in a demotion. Which could mean  he goes (though my gut feel is he is going anyway)
