7 years at the cats and has level 4 coaching program.  Sounds like someone who's next move is a senior role.  Not sure why he would want to move to us as an assistant especially seeing the lack of success our assistants have had?  If he has been promised the senior role next year then it would be a disappointing way to replace hardwick seeing we haven't opened it up for all to apply.  Doesn't make sense.

Then he grabbed two chopsticks and stuck them in his mouth , pretending to be a walrus

top flight coach apparently...but I agree with Harry in that due process should be followed. BTW would I sound too conspiratorial if I said that Balme is the prime mover in the new messages/actions coming out of the club, particularly as they relate to recruitment and coaching? Did he stipulate conditions he required from the club prior to accepting the role?

Maybe Blake isn't a silly man, and can see the writing on the wall and is getting his best foot forward to take over!!

Yeah I reckon he can smell blood and wants to put himself in prime position.

Hopefully Balmey has told him that Dimma is a dead man walking.

Either way, it's a good thing that we are getting him.

That's not how we should be selecting half steps replacement.   What about the other candidates out there.?  Caracella may not be the best option.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

Harry, I agree.
I don't believe Balme would be doing that. I believe this is Blake having the nous to know that if he comes in and impresses then he will have half a step forward on everyone else that could be potential candidates IF Hardwick fails.

Richmond continues search for up to five replacements

AFL.com.au
15th September 2016

RICHMOND has met with former Western Bulldogs assistant coach Brett Montgomery as it searches for up to five replacements for Damien Hardwick's support team.

Montgomery, who left the Whitten Oval last month after his contract was not renewed, is also on a shortlist of candidates the Brisbane Lions are compiling for their senior vacancy before interviews start.

The Tigers have held recent talks with Montgomery, but AFL.com.au understands the 43-year-old will still be an applicant for the Lions' position.

Assistant coach Blake Caracella, who will leave Geelong at the end this season, has also met with the Tigers, whose new football manager Neil Balme will start on Monday.

Richmond chose not to renew the contracts of Ross Smith, Greg Mellor and premiership coach Mark Williams last month and is yet to confirm what role Mark P Williams will have at the club in 2017.

Midfield stoppages coach Brendon Lade was offered a one-year contract but could yet move to Port Adelaide, where he will be interviewed.
